This is one of my favorite episodes of the show, it's a very funny and clever episode. There's not a whole lot I can say about this one as this is really one of those misunderstanding comedy plotlines, but I personally love those plotlines because it's one that's based on building up to the payoff.
This episode is just funny from beginning to end, from the business of Gram's reluctance to go to the doctor as well as with the doctor.
However, the highlight of the episode is in Marie and Connie overhearing their fathers dilemma but not getting all the details which of course makes them fill in the blanks to come to the wrong conclusion. It's of course not long until this misunderstanding spreads faster than wildfire as other characters hear this news.
Part of what makes this episode great is seeing everyone have a hand in the comedy, I feel in a way this episode is one of the best examples whenever an episode features a huge cast of characters. It's just funny seeing everyone just acting really melodramatic about this misunderstanding.
I also feel there is a bit of heart in this episode, despite all the misunderstanding it really demonstrates how much they really care about Gram and how one person truly can truly matter to a massive sum of people.
I won't say what the payoff is, you'll just have to see it for yourself. And in the words of an old song remember, "Always look on the bright side of life."
