Too much buffoonery in this episode.

In this episode, Binghamton has orders from the Admiral to have one of his commanders permanently assigned to the British unit in Australia as a liaison officer. Binghamton is not sure who he wants to be transferred until he remembers that McHale is in his unit. He can have McHale transferred but will have to trick his men into thinking the British wants the entire crew of the 73 instead of just McHale.

Sure enough Binghamton pulls off the trick and gets the entire crew to promote McHale for the new assignment. But when they find out that they will not be going they become upset. With the British officers already ready for McHale to take the job, the gang will have to come up with a plan to get their Commander off the hook. They do this by having Ensign Parker dress up like a British Admiral.

The first half of the show, even though not exciting, was average enough to make the viewer interested. But then for some reason when the crew wants to fool Binghamton into thinking a British Admiral is on the base, they get the most incompetent person possible, Ensign Parker. We have to, at times, take things in a sitcom with a grain of salt, but to make Binghamton so foolish as not to recognize Parker is beyond belief. And the way that Tim Conway played the British Admiral should have the makings of an international incident. Jut too much buffoonery. Really took away from the show.
