Close to You (#3.10)

Warning: Spoilers
Callie almost gets raped and Bailey is there to help her. Claudia starts writing a love advise column for school paper. Julia wants to make sure Sam keeps on working on their roof. Charlie is worried because Grace wants to be more than friends.

The story with Callie is pretty good. I think soon it will come out that Bailey cheated on Sarah. But Alexondra Lee kind of sucked at acting here.

Claudia's story kind of made me laugh. It is funny how that guy called her experienced because she got dumped once. And her thinking that she sees what is going on with people now while she doesn't see that this boy is into her.

Julia is acting like a silly teenager in this episode. Charlie was right that they shouldn't pay any money for Sam's mistake. But sometimes she should act like a silly teenager because she is one.

And Charlie telling grace about Kirsten was a good thing. Will spare him a lot of trouble.

Drawing the Line

Warning: Spoilers
Another disappointing episode of season 3 comes by. At least now, following last episode, Claudia returned to her normal mode, besides Sarah, who already is the other light of this season considering Kirsten's absence. Here, Bailey rescues Callie from a date rape, so the next night he is forced to stay with her, despite having a concert with Sarah. Then, when Sarah learns this, she feels compassive and along Bailey tries to help Callie, but drawing the line between the two and her. After they report the incident to the police (who incredibly doesn't believe the full story), Sarah starts to realize that Callie is leaning much on Bailey, so she suggests him to offer her support groups and other helpful persons besides him. In the final scene, despite Bailey's attempts to avoid Callie's feelings, she tells him she wishes of meeting someone like him, strongly implying she wishes him as a boyfriend. This story was good but mainly for Sarah's role, she has an inside fight between the kindness, compassion towards Callie's incident against her suspicious that she might steal Bailey from her. To make things worst, she is not aware that he already cheated on her.

As for Claudia, she feels insightful after a fellow student, Stuart, praises her stories in school. She notices what's going on with each of his siblings: Julia's crush on Sam, Bailey's feelings for two women and Charlie's strange friendship with Grace. She was great in this episode, still oblivious to Stuart's crush on her, but that made her story a little funny. On the other hand, Charlie keeps spending time with Grace, taking food to different places for homeless people, and meets her dangerous neighborhood. The problem is that just after a few episodes when Charlie did some of the greatest acts of love for his not official wife, he accepts Grace's request of going with her to a fundraiser party, even to dance. There, people mistakenly think they are couple (what annoying and forgettable parts, if you are a Charlie-Kirsten fan like me, don't ever watch this again). Fortunately, Claudia helps Charlie to draw the line, he didn't kiss Grace, but she realizes that her older brother is taking the wrong road. I'm not sure what was going on with Charlie's mind but when Claudia says "what about Kirsten?", he promises he won't cross the line with Grace. And he didn't. In Grace's home, she tried but he avoided it, and then explained that he can't have something with her because he is waiting for Kirsten, in other words, he is married. This story wasn't good, Owen was really absent so I think that this episode should have been focused in Charlie and Owen (I believe the same about last episode). The only good part was that Charlie drew the line, partially thanks to Claudia. Still, if Kirsten knew that her "husband" danced and spent time with another woman while she was struggling with depression, therapists, psychiatrists and her parents, she would be very mad at him, and that's why I'm mad towards this story and the writers.

To finish, Julia's case with Sam. She has a deep crush on him and confides with Sarah, feeling stupid for being so "in love". After she inadvertently ruins Sam's work with the roof (it rained and she got him busy with other works), Charlie fires him so she rehires him with her own money, lying to both of them. When he finds out what she did, he says they are strange but then apologizes and gives her half of the money she spent. So Julia, cross the line and steals a kiss from him. This part of the episode was kind of funny but not as enjoyable as other Julia's stories. What her parents would say? Besides, she should be watching Owen, same as Charlie, considering that there are too many dangerous tools and construction's stuff in the house. Totally overrated episode, should be much less than 8.
