Rachel's patient (the gorgeous Chris William Martin) is becoming increasingly paranoid that everyone's out to get him. He thinks people are watching him from her mirror, and there's nothing that Rachel can say to calm him, as he blames people like Rachel for killing his mother.
After their session is over, he comes back and stabs Rachel, and Rachel presses charges, but it's not long before he's out on bail. Meanwhile, Rachel starts getting paranoid as well, thinking Derek is too controlling and Alex is too nosy, and that her shrink is taking their side.
Without giving away too much, it escalates into a very exciting climax. This is one episode in which Helen Shaver (the most talented of the cast) is actually given something to do. Her descent from the normal Rachel to a madwoman is believable. After seeing Scream (1996), it's hard not to get a bit of a chuckle from the climax, but it's technically of high quality. The incantation to save Rachel is a bit hokey, like in most episodes, but it doesn't last long.
