Hot tubs, tennis, horse riding, the Reagan revolution in full swing...no more malaise

Warning: Spoilers
Oh the memories of the 80s. Remington Steele was one of a stable of TV series that fit hand in glove with the Reagan era, where we could put aside the malaise era of one-term President Jimmy Carter. At this time this episode Steele Eligible was screened, the Reagan era was hitting its peak, and later that year he won in a landslide that was a real landslide (not the Trump "landslide" LOL of 2016).

Here bachelors are being bumped off, and Remington Steele is one of the bachelors. One bachelor got electrocuted jumping into a spa, another got murdered in a stable. It's not pretty at all.

One interesting filming technique in Steele Eligible was the split screen.

Steele Eligible

A Los Angeles magazine attracts attention with its list of the the five most eligible bachelors. It includes sports stars and a doctor. People interested in money. Remington Steele is among them.

However someone is out to kill the people on the list. Victor Janoff the founder of the magazine is behaving very strangely and he doesn't like the shallow nature of celebrity.

Steele is having a nice time being accompanied by gorgeous airheads. When one of the other eligible bachelors is electrocuted in the hot tub, he and Laura are determined to find the killer.

Pretty soon Steele is incapacitated by a broken leg and gets a chance to emulate James Stewart in Rear Window.

An enjoyable episode but it really is off the charts when it comes to a logical plot. The ending is very convoluted and silly. It shows because the director just ends it and goes to the next scene to wrap things up.

Veteran British actor Roy Dotrice lends some dignity to the proceedings.
