Strange, unconvincing episode
gridoon20249 December 2008
In the middle of a big windstorm, Reno Raines stops by at an isolated gas / food / drinks station, whose owner is a very nervous man. And he has every right to be: he is a former prisoner who betrayed his fellow inmates by exposing their escape plans to the guards. The result was one death, one serious injury, and 10 more years of imprisonment for them. Now, they have finally managed to escape, and they come after him: two of them hold him, Reno, and three other passers-by hostage, waiting for the arrival of their leader who plans a violent revenge. Most of the running time is spent inside this cafe, with the two thugs resembling a more sadistic version of Abbott and Costello. Adding to the strangeness is the subplot of Reno's friend Bobby Sixkiller searching for him and having mystical visions of his recently deceased uncle guiding him in his search. Some parts of this episode are unconvincing, from the very easy breakout at the start to the happy fate of a certain character at the end. (**)

Eye of the storm
coltras3528 August 2022
A ruthless band of murderers stage an elaborate jailbreak. Once free, their plan is to track down and kidnap a reformed former member of their posse who foiled one of their previous schemes. They plan a very slow and painful death for him in retribution. Reno and several others end up being in the wrong place at the wrong time and taken hostage as well. This culminates in the fugitives and the hostages being isolated inside a tavern during a cataclysmic dust storm. Posing as a criminal himself, Reno gains the trust of the attackers and creates dissension in the ranks, and uses this edge to cripple their plans.

Quite a good episode, some good tension and a little unusual. The storm adds to the suspense, and there's a nice buildup before the action starts. Reno - Lorenzo Lamas - plays smartly trying to keep the two vicious murderers from killing them earlier than planned.
