A fun directorial debut

The premise is not the most original one on the block, but 'Tiny Toon Adventures' always excelled when it came to anything film and television related and also parodies. And when the show was at its best with this type of concept, it was fantastic. An episode centered around Buster in a scenario tailor made for him also appealed, as somebody who has always loved him as a character and considered him one of my favourites of the show.

"Buster's Directorial Debut" is very colourful and entertaining and shows very well what makes Buster work so well in this scenario. It is not one of the best episodes of 'Tiny Toon Adventures', and other episodes that had this concept or similar were a little wackier and wittier. "Buster's Directorial Debut" does though have more than enough to it to show what is so appealing about the show to many, and doesn't have an awful lot wrong with it.

Animation is bright, lively and colourful and the expressions and reactions continue to delight. There is nothing questionable about the music placement or type and the theme song is still infectious. The voice acting is excellent from all, some of the best and most prolific voice actors at the time here and all deliver with such zest. Character writing is near-spot on, only having reservations with slightly bland Furrball.

Most of the writing is very witty and clever, especially in "Fit to be Skewed". Both "Fit to be Skewed" and "Ducklahoma" may not be original but still are wildly entertaining and capture the spirit of classic Looney Tunes extremely well, thanks to the wacky energy and sharp wit. "Fit to be Skewed", an ingenious mix of 'Hansel and Gretel' and 'Bewitched Bunny' is especially great. Plucky and his manic persona are put to great use in "Ducklahoma", though you somewhat feel for him here as well.

It is a shame that the wraparound story "Furrball on the Roof" was not as good, where it is not as lively or as fun. Actually found it very predictable and on the dull and thin side, as well as not going very far, the interruptions are amusing but not hilarious.

Overall, very good. 8/10.
