Best Wonder Years episode...
tizne11 May 2007
In this episode, Kevin tries his hardest to win Winnie back. At the end, all his efforts were useless and it even backfired at him. The key part in this episode, is just right before the ending. Kevin leaves the party and goes home, earlier than what he was supposed to, hoping that he could go in the garage ant spend a few minutes alone. HIs father, however, was already there fixing a motor or something. Kevin walks in, has a little chat with his dad, and then Jack asks him how are things with Winnie. Kevins's voice starts breaking up and says, "well, we it is pretty much done", and stays quiet. His dad looks at him, knowing and UNDERSTANDING what he is going through, and says something that I wish my father or anybody else had told me when I was 14... "I wish I could say that it gets easier..." ..."just try to hang in there", as Kevin hugs him and starts crying. Great episode, my favorite of all.

Captures all the teenage angst.

This episode is one of the most real 30 minutes of television ever made. The heartbreak of losing the one you love. Trying to win her back by making her jealous and saying things you don't really mean. The scene with Jack and Kevin near the end is perfection. Brilliant acting and direction. Next to Goodbye this is the best episode.

Warning: Spoilers
A wonderfully tender episode of the show, with Kevin struggling to deal with the fallout from his breakup with Winnie.

While I don't agree with the way he treated Maddie, I found this to be a near perfect episode.

Madeline steals the show... again

Warning: Spoilers
Madeline, the femme fatale always seems to turn up at the right (or wrong) moments. Always looking radiant and beautiful, trying to lure Kevin in with her seductive ways. Such a great character.

You can tell predictably when she's about to appear in a scene. And when she does, she steals the scene, saying all the right things, sucking you in with her charm. You become powerless in her presence, you just want to stop what you're doing and submit to anything she requests. How Kevin doesn't, I'll never understand.

Anyway, there's a nice scene with Kevin and Jack near the end. Just a father comforting his son, few words needed. He knows Kevin is hurting, and just to be there to comfort him is very touching. Lovely scene.

You are everything and everything is you.

Warning: Spoilers
Denial is about Kevin getting Paul to throw a party in an attempt to get Winnie back, it hits him like a ton of bricks that it's all over.

While yelling at Julie Condra isn't forgivable, it really emphasizes that he doesn't care about anything else right now. One of the better episodes and emotions at an all time high. The story arc of Winnie at a new school and the breakup, with the introduction of Madeline is some of the best of the show, but along with it comes some poor dialogue as Kevin's interactions with Winnie often sub-par when they're a couple and the episodes have less or no involvement of Jack and Norma. I like Kevin and Winnie's interaction here though, as they're not a couple. Hard hitting.

Quit denying the break up of your loved one.
alanbourbeau2419 November 2021
I understand that Kevin had to go through a break up with Winnie. Believe me, it's not easy to go through it. But instead of denying he broke up with her. Accept it and move on. And take a look at me, I managed to get over my breakup. And I met a new girl. She's not my girlfriend yet.
