One of the best cartoon series aimed at children on colour TV, 'Mary, Mungo and Midge' did, in thirteen episodes, introduce children to the concepts of friendship, honesty, travel, family, curiosity, and yes, lifts (Mary lived in a tower block, so modern for the 1960s).
Using a fairly simple cut-out animation technique, with a jolly narration by Richard Baker, this series continues to charm after forty years. The situations depicted might now be old hat in many respects, but if you enjoyed this as a child, you're likely to enjoy it now. Despite the limited animation, the characters do have personalities, especially laid-back Mungo the dog and perky little Midge the mouse.
One of life's guilty pleasures.
