Dreadful with a capital D
stellbread22 May 2015
I was mailed this version of The Whistler quite by accident, but watched it anyway. Boy what a mistake. The film I wanted was William Castle's camp classic of the same name. which when compared to this schlock, looks like "The Exorcist."

The dialog is cringe-inducing clichéd, and the "acting"--and I am using that word loosely--is laughably bad, as if the players have been pumped full of Ambien and were reading their lines off a teleprompter. The plot was o.k., but the special effects ruined it- -and if I see one more independent horror film that has a dismemberment that shows no bones in the severed limb I will scream.

I wish the Whistler had showed up at my house and gouged my eyes out.

The scariest part of this waste of money and time was when the words TO BE CONTINUED... appeared at the climax. God, I hope not. There are just too too many people with big ideas, small budgets and minuscule talent working in Hollywood these days.

BAD GUYS ALMOST ALWAYS LEAVE CLUES
nogodnomasters22 June 2019
Warning: Spoilers
Leroy (Derek laKeith Martin) is a nice guy who can wield an axe. He is sweet on Mavis (Nita Marquez) the town waitress. One night the bad guys arrive at the diner while she is closing up and begin to take advantage of her. She is almost rescued by Leroy who brings an axe to a gun fight.

A year later a man with an axe is killing off the gang.

The detectives in the film make the plot twisty. It detracts from a dead guy killing people with an axe. The acing and dialogue are rank bad.

Nudity (Nita Marquez), near rape, severed body parts with blood squirts, except that one hand. Camp value.

Great Show
hallick119 February 2007
I thought this was a great show and would recommend this to friends who understand what independent films are and how creative they can. The scenes are done well and the acting is top notch. If you are looking for a good horror movie to watch then this is one that you won't want to pass up. You Actually get to see the killer from the start unlike other movies where it is feigned or implied until the very last scene and you wonder what you just watched it for. So, pop the popcorn, turn out the lights and curl up with a good movie tonight. You will be very pleased with the outcome of the movie and you will recommend this to your friends as well.
