Very likable

This is a low-budget independent short about grim reapers. While I liked the film a lot, the timing of the film is unfortunate, as in many ways it reminded me of the series "Dead Like Me" on Showtime--which came out three years earlier. Still, it's an interesting film and does cover some new ground.

A grim reaper is feeling dissatisfied about his job. He's obviously in a funk and has even taken to breaking the rules of the job lately. In one case, he's supposed to take an innocent woman's soul but instead kills the robber who is about to shoot her. He is assigned a partner because of these slips, but even after getting her, he continues to play with the rules--taking one victim a bit early to save them pain and suffering. Finally, he gets an idea--why not kill myself and see what happens!

The film is well acted and written. Given a better budget, the costumes could have been a lot better, as instead of looking like ordinary people, they wear black robes and have face makeup. It was obvious they just didn't have the money to do it better and it is understandable--you gotta start somewhere.
