"I have some sick days coming and I was thinking that since Epps makes me sick..."
katlyngatti3 July 2021
Warning: Spoilers
This is one of my favorite episodes of Season 2 as we finally reach the end of Epps' serial killer reign. I like that we introduced our next "big bad" a few episodes ago (Aliens in the Spaceship) so there is some overlap in the audience's anticipation. The cold open gets me every time. I would've liked to see B&B talk with the firefighter's family, we kind of just gloss over his death and it's almost presented as collateral damage which just makes me sad. I cannot believe Mrs. Epps doesn't accept protection because clearly Epps isn't just killing blonde girls anymore...what if Epps went and tried to kill her new boyfriend?? Really weird hill to die on. Jeffersonian security strikes again! Angela's line - "I have some sick days coming and I was thinking that since Epps makes me sick..." - oof, FELT that. Booth says he'll have Brennan's license pulled and she says she'll just assign Zack as Booth's forensic anthropologist and I for one would LOVE to have an episode with Zack in the field. The mom storyline is strange like can they even arrest her? Confused about that, but then she says she should have beat him more regular and suddenly I didn't care as much anymore - so creepy. Merry Go Round scene is EXCELLENT and makes me cry immediately every time. You can feel the fear in Booth's eyes. I feel like this is first episode where we really see where Booth and Cam stand and I fully believe their chemistry in this episode. When Epps explains what he thinks happened to Cam and Brennan says "Yes that's exactly what happened" I was like ????? No it's not. Cam saying "oh God" to family coming is well timed. Zack is the only one that seems to know that Epps really isn't that smart. The scene with Zack, Hodgins, and Booth relieves some tension and makes me laugh. The explosion shot with the mannequin is framed so well with the slow-mo. Booth saying "if you have to explain why you are a hero, I guess you're not a hero" made me laugh, but also he did literally save Zack's life and could have very easily just explained what Zack needed to do and then left sooo... I feel like we get a lot of closure at the end of the episode with Epps' death, Cam/Booth relationship, Brennan/Booth, and most importantly - Booth making things right with Parker. Such a good episode from beginning to end. 10/10.

Farewell

Warning: Spoilers
This is the final episode regarding Howard Epps.

After escaping from prison, Howard is attacking people associated with Booth and Brennan. Booth fears for Brennan's life and wants to protect her.

There are some pretty gross things about this episode. It shows that there is nothing good in Epps. Some of our characters get injured and each injury just makes Booth and Brennan madder and madder.

I'm not a fan of the Booth-Cam romance (I don't think I like any of his girlfriends except for Bones). But their relationship plays an important part.

Overall, I'll say this was a pretty interesting story line. The final scene with Epps will play out in the next several episodes since it haunts Booth and Brennan and others try to help him cope.

Great story line

I really like the idea's they use behind the episodes surrounding Howard Epps the serial killer. However, they allude to the fact he is a genius. All his clues in the games he plays with with bones are very simple, which makes it hard to buy into. He does come across sick and morally corrupt, so the story is still very entertaining.

Hey Bones Booth Pod!

Warning: Spoilers
The last appearance of Howard Epps and he went out with a bang. Just because they're in prison doesn't mean they need to be written off as "animals" they're still people Booth. Awww love the flirting between Hodgins and Angela but yes Zack that would be uncomfortable to be in the middle of. Ofcourse it's as easy as going to a mall to get a gun ugh. Is Epps biggest complaint about prison that he had to wear orange? Maybe don't murder people and you can pick your own wardrobe. Sending Angela the heart very gross and creepy but clever. I would be leery of opening fridges too Booth. After Epps got Parker involved i get why Booth was pushing to hurry but what happened to poor Cam could've been avoided had protocol been followed. Zack had a heck of an episode blown up, manhandled and now he can't go home to rest because he's playing dead. Ok boys calm down you can both be heroes.

Good Riddance

Warning: Spoilers
I thought this was laid out well to show that Epps has no redeeming qualities. He is psychotic to the nth degree and, hence, reason has no place. He is also a game player which does spin his beanie. He has it in for Booth and Brennan and would like to see them both dead, Brennan because she is his equal in strength and intelligence. I have to agree with another reviewer concerning common sense in the lab. They constantly work on bodies that could be full of contaminants and diseases, but no one wears a mask or a filter. When Cam starts drilling on that head, she knows there is something there, but goes in without any protections (Zach, the same way). When a SWAT team goes into a building, they have their full protective gear on. In goes Booth with his FBI suit and tie. Not eve a helmet. I know that they are stars and TV people want their faces seen...but. Good riddance of Epps. The question is whether Booth could have saved him. He makes a bid deal about not having a wrist injury.

Too bad

Warning: Spoilers
I just wanted to make a comment about this episode because I love this series & I feel they made a big blunder in this one. When they are sawing into the head why was no one wearing a mask? REALLY? I just don't see this happening with how much of stickler Cam is for following procedure. Additionally, we already saw the consequences of not wearing proper safety equipment in two past episodes! ("The Graft In The Girl",season 1, episode 20 & "The Man In The Fallout Shelter", season 1, episode 9.) So, so disappointing.

I also felt the way they killed Epps was kinda pathetic. Just my opinion though. Aside from this I got a number of laughs from Booths character & am happy we wont be seeing Mr. Epps anymore.
