This episode was basically centered around peoples hate for Marcel lol. Now I know that Marcel comes off as a over confident, self centered jerkoff for the most part in the personality category but you have to let that go because it really isn't that important to your place in the competition. Normally I can't stand people like that either.. However he has kind of grew on me and I realized he isn't intentionally trying to be a dick to people it's just how he is. That being said he made it known since episode 1 it's about the food and not making friends here because it's a competition.... For a lot of money and other things. Now in this episode I can't help but be on his side during the dinner service when he was about to bring his dishes out. Betty clearly over reacted like she was looking for a reason to get mad at him when she claimed he "Very Rudely Snapped at me". Go back and watch it. He so b did not say it rudely like normally does. In fact he actaully even said "Hey Betty will you "PLEASE" take out these bowl of cherries for me." Then a guy comes in says "Hey Marcel hold up for a minute." Betty's the closest person in the room to that person that came in from the dining room so I don't know how she didn't hear him. Marcel loudly but not extremely loudly says "Holding" then in the same second Betty says "ok I'm going."🤔 So Marcel said a little louder and a tad forceful but definetly not rudely says "No don't go not yet." If she didn't hear the guy say hold up I don't blame Marcel for being a touch louder but definetly want in a mean manner. So then she and Ilen make this huge deal like he straight up yelled at her with full force. Then they kind of tried to sabotage him in a way by trying to get no one to help him take his dishes out. (Which he did help them do.) Now yeah I don't like him really either but I have issues with people trying not like someone and searching for things to get upset with him about like allot of the fellow competitors do to him. Not saying he didn't bring it on himself but if you really watch it here vhe was just making sure she didn't bring his dish out immediately after the host came in and told him to wait to start serving. What really bothers me about it is that these "Top Chefs" were willing to let the clients suffer which is the worst thing to ever do in a restaurant period let alone just to make someone look bad. I have spent as good 15 years in very high-end kitchens both private and corporate ones and even in hot dog joints you DON'T ever let customers suffer. Let alone just because you don't get along with someone you work with even if they are a dick. Now I'll admit Betty has really surprised me throughout this competition with the way the show presented her and her experience in how really good as a chef she is but if you are going to be a Top Chef you have to be able to understand what snapping really is and what is personal and what is not. In this instance he was simply making sure she heard him... Which Im glad the real judges brought it up and acknowledged that aspect. Now like I said they initially made Betty look like she just picked up cooking as hobby and got selected here but she really is an amazing chef and rightfully deserved to win some of the competitions she did but there last few episodes her "non schooling" in presentation are showing through and it's getting down to where every little things matter. If you can't let the little non important things go and you concentrate on the wrong things like finding things wrong with others rather than how to bring up your food it's going to cost you like it did with her here.
