Wonderful promotional piece
stevergy200014 January 2022
This short was obviously made to promote the then upcoming film A Patch of Blue, but it nonetheless tells an enchanting story of an unknown being cast in a leading role, and the manner in which she becomes accustomed to working in Hollywood. The quite serious nature of the film itself possibly led to the even-handed and almost dispassionate nature of the writing done describing Elizabeth's initial interview, screen and 'personality' tests, visit to a braille institute to learn more about the nature of blindness since that was the affliction of her character, and both meeting and working with Sidney Poitier. Very well done: one of those promotional shorts that, instead of shouting out how wonderful the film they describe will be, allows the view an intimate glimpse at the processes involved in making a motion picture.
