It's a weird case, even after Deux Ex Machina.

Daniel Lennon is running riot whilst under the influence of LSD, Boyd searches for the truth.

I was a little mixed in my views on the first episode, if I had to tag it with one single word, it would be weird. It was a little wishy washy, there is a little more substance to this episode, but I'm still not a massive lover of it.

There are interesting aspects, the discussions surrounding LSD, and the origins of it, as well as why Daniel commited the murder.

There are definitely way too many trippy flashbacks, they are quite literally done to death, and needed to be scaled back a lot.id be interested to know exactly how much of this episode is taken up with flashbacks.

It has been interesting to see Boyd operating without Grace's calming influence, he would have needed those anger management courses again. Nice to see her show a bit of backbone. Another good episode for Stella, what an addition to the team she was.

It is trippy, it is a bit odd, but the ending at least is good. Overall it's not one I tend to reach for, 6/10.

A brutal episode that's brutally realistic. In loco parentis.

Warning: Spoilers
Unfortunately this ultra powerful story is brutally realistic.

As a counsellor and social worker I dealt with issues raised in this episode on a regular basis.

Waking the Dead was never afraid to tackle unpleasant truths of British ways of life yesteryear. This one is no exception The team are on form in every way. Boyd is at his oppressive worst and best.

I really wish this episode that's not for the faint hearted was fiction.

Sadly it's far from fiction.

I too was at school in the UK in the 60s and 70s. Bad things were done to so many of us by those who were in loco parentis.
