. . . for THE COWBOYS emphasizes that the child actors making up most of the cast for this late-life John Wayne flick are actually YOUNGER in Real Life (for instance, several Ten-Year-Olds--and they certainly look it!) than the script explicitly pegs their ages. Here's something to ponder. Nowadays, you'll get arrested in any "Red" state for possessing kiddie porn if you have an uncut version of PRETTY BABY's theatrical release, displaying a Pre-teen Brooke Shield's genitalia. Plus, all the Hollywood folks today make out like they're outraged by Africa's plethora of child soldiers. But this movie about training a bunch of 10-year-old boys to become gleeful Man Killers is somehow thought to be "cute." Recently, a first-grader in Flint, MI perceived some slight from a female classmate at school, and shot her dead through the neck with his uncle's gun the next day during lessons. Certainly, Real Life Killer Kiddies like that Michigan kid are more likely to be inspired by THE COWBOYS than a bevy of Pre-pubescent girls being driven to neighborhood bordellos by PRETTY BABY. Which of these movies, then, is more dangerous to our Social Order, and outright Pornographic?
