A ten minute short film about the logistics of making the film An Inconvenient Truth. I wasn't that interested in this initially but I was just pursuing the DVD extras and thought I'd take a look despite my assumption being that it was pretty damn easy to make a film that involves little more than a PowerPoint presentation and one man talking. And of course it was comparatively easy against the challenges of modern film-making in Hollywood.
Despite this though this short is actually pretty interesting juts because of how close it gets to director Guggenheim in the early stages. Shots of the set going from design to reality engaged me, as did scenes where the shots are setup, rehearsed and the cameras moved into positions within each section of the presentation. I found this interesting because of how natural and effortless the actual film looked and it made me realise how the shots were mostly very well framed and not just static cameras in front of the stage pointing towards Gore. The film loses this interest a bit as it goes on and gets into the presentation itself (which obviously I had already just seen) and brings in producers etc who don't add a great deal to this "making of" but it is short so it just about makes it to the end.
Not a great "making of" by any means but it is short and has enough going for it early on in the setup to hold the attention even if it tails off in the second half.
