Prehistoric Plucky

Am a big fan of animation, something that has always been the case and will never stop, and have always loved 'Tiny Toon Adventures' (just as much as similar shows like 'Animaniacs' and 'Pinky and the Brain'). More so now as a young adult, now understanding better and appreciating more the humour and writing. Plucky was always one of my favourite characters of 'Tiny Toon Adventures', for pretty much the same reasons that makes me love Looney Tunes' Daffy Duck so much.

The best episode perhaps since "Fields of Honey", "A Ditch in Time" is a brilliant episode. One of the best Plucky-centric episodes and towards the best of 'Tiny Toon Adventures'. Plucky, as well as Buster and Babs, is perfectly showcased and "A Ditch in Time" makes creative use of the prehistoric setting and makes a great premise intriguing, funny and relatable. Anybody who has been in Plucky's position, or felt how he feels (the case with me) will relate.

It is very nicely animated, love the vibrancy and rich detail and the prehistoric setting is colourfully rendered. The drawing is also expressive and the expressions and reactions varied and wonderfully exaggerated. The music is characterful and never cheap and the theme song is very catchy.

Writing is razor sharp and witty, with a lot of clever dialogue and references. References that are affectionate and don't feel random or thrown in for the sake of it. The story doesn't waste its waste and doesn't neglect the time machine idea, using it quite imaginatively.

Plucky is both hilarious and easy to relate to and Buster and Babs have wonderfully wacky chemistry. The supporting characters are colourful, provide plenty of amusement and fit with the setting beautifully. The voice acting is very good indeed, especially from Joe Alaskey.

Overall, brilliant. 10/10
