Intimate Portrait: Debbie Reynolds and Carrie Fisher (1998)

This episode of the Lifetime series is a pretty good look at the relationship between Debbie Reynolds and her daughter Carrie Fisher. If you're watching this in 2017 like I am then you're well aware of the bizarre and tragic events that closed out 2016 as both the mother and daughter died within days of each other.

Looking back on this documentary you can't help but think that it did a terrific job at telling their story as well as making it more clear as to why Debbie couldn't live without her daughter. Both are interviewed, as well as Carrie's brother, as they discuss the various aspects of their lives. This includes the troubled relationship with Eddie Fisher, Carrie's drug problems as well as POSTCARDS FROM THE EDGE and how Carrie found herself down the same road as her mother in regards to be single with a new kid. There's a lot of great information here and the episode is certainly a very entertaining one and worth watching for fans.
