I have questions...
ejramseyva6 February 2022
If you were traveling the great unknown, I'd have dogs, did they all die with the plague? I would also rather have guns than knives to hunt and defend myself. So someone enlightened me.

Counter opinion
tvonline-6923624 December 2021
I'm really just posting here because there is only one review up, and it seems very focused on hating the characters for reminding the reviewer of a carnival...?

I am thoroughly engaged by how episodes 1-4 have connected so far. The writers miraculously tell an end of the world story that is focused on ppl trying to overcome trauma and suffering instead of focusing on the suffering. It's beautiful, and through tone and imagery, it's clear that Patrick Somerville picked up a Thing or two from working on the leftovers w Damon Lindelof on The Leftovers.

Tremendous building of suspense coupled with beautiful flourishes of editing highlight another very emotionally and intellectually compelling episode.

It's SO BAD
talhacarrim11 October 2022
The construction of episodes 2 and 4 have been awful. If every alternate episode follows this particular time line then I might just skip them. I don't understand how we are supposed to remotely feel anything for the characters and their stories, when they didn't lay the groundwork to create depth for their characters. We cannot understand the gravity of what's happening when we don't know what the norm for each character is. They play this tense and tender music every scene as if there's so much jeopardy occurring but we as an audience do not identify is as out of the ordinary because what's happening is the normal, and not UNIQUE OR DIFFERENT TO THE NORM. The travelling theatre storyline is drab af, but what makes it worst is the construction of the storyline.

Been spendin' most their lives livin' in the hipsters's apocalypse.

The fact that there is a living person on Earth who finds this scenario even a little bit realistic and intriguing is more shocking to me than the fact that 20 years after the end of the world, the biggest threat to "civilization" (a.k.a. A bunch of artsy-fartsy hippies riding around with echo-pickups) is a budget, anarchist Jesus using a ZS-category comic for a holy book. Can we go back to Kirsten and Jeevan in year 1 where things were actually somewhat interesting and rational instead of this Cuckooland bull excrement? Please?

Absurd
laeviceraciondelcarnerorojo31 December 2021
Warning: Spoilers
Let me understand this: society is nearly extinct by a pandemic and the only survivors are a bunch of filthy hippies who have absolutely no skills and roam the remnants of the country juggling? There are no bandits on the roads, there are no problems with food or water shortages, there are no diseases and everyone plays in shabby clothes? It's totally ridiculous. By the way, whatever they do at that carnival is not even remotely art.

I really hate the carnie-vibe
kyttness23 December 2021
I was so disappointed when I realized this was a continuation of episode 2. They had another 45 minutes to try and connect the audience with these characters and I still feel absolutely nothing but disdain for any of them....and since that wasn't intended by the director and writers then they have completely missed the point of telling this story in the first place. You can have strange phenomena happening and also let the audience connect with the characters...take a lesson from LOST.

Kirsten trying to act like she understands opening up and vulnerability is laughable considering none of these characters are vulnerable with the exception of maybe Alex, but honestly when she was running into that minefield I did not care what the outcome was going to be. So her vulnerability just makes her seem like an idiot and not a human being.

I really hate Kirsten's character. The acting is subpar as well. Like the actors don't even believe in what they are doing themselves. Can't say I blame them, who wants to be a bunch useless, self-important carnies.

precise exploration
Kirpianuscus15 May 2022
At first sight, it seems little far by novel. But it is just a more profound exploration of the world who you know. Same spirit from Station eleven. But more nuances. Same traits of survive. But a better portrait of prophet in the presence of children. More relevance of book created by Miranda and fair sketches about the relation between Jeevan and Kirsten.

So, fine work, precise touch.

It was not so bad until the kids show up
gephestnine30 December 2021
Afterwards, last few minutes, it was just awful.

Suddenly, the narrative falls apart, any meaning is lost, and it's not a story anymore - just a bunch of people running around doing some chaotic nonsense in front of some decorations for the sake of doing something presumable artistic, but in fact just pathetic.

I got pretty confused about this show.

1st and 3rd episodes was very good, each of them did told a compelling story, and 2nd and 4th are at best mediocre, and that mediocrity going downhill in the end of the episode.
