Suprisingly good blend of sci-fi and romantic comedy. And it works
williamgway9 April 2020
Suprisingly good blend of sci-fi and romantic comedy. And it works. Looking at the trailer and the film description was enough to attract my attention but was not really sure what to expect. Sci-Fi? Comedy? Rom-Co? Well, it is a little of all of those and actually works. Well filmed and acted an engaging story of an x-files like plot unfolds. There is some great interplay between the two main characters, who really do a nice job of acting. There is some great tension between these characters, who initially do not like each other but must work together.

Confessions of a Producer kept my attention and was worth the watch. So, if you are confused as to what this actually about, give it a try. You won't be disappointed.

Fun ride
Smgrte23586010 April 2020
What a fun ride! I love Clare Grant, and she really shines in this genre-bending film by Jim Lewis. The dynamic between the characters is really fun; you almost don't want Roger to get Clare to like him, but... well, I won't spoil it for you. Great piece of work!

A fun ride of a film
craigahrens1 April 2020
Ready yourself for a super fun ride! This indie film is such a fun, entertaining film!! It's one of those films that leaves you feeling good. Writer/director does a terrific job in blending comedy, sci-fi and romance in one. No easy task for sure. The characters were so fun and engaging. I really enjoyed the leads. They did such a good job!! Bravo!! This little gem most certainly gets a thumbs up from me!!

King of the Bs

Clearly made as a sort of tribute to the 'King of the Bs' Roger Corman - the main character's name is Corman spelt backwards! - this film blends sci-fi, comedy and romance in the way that only Corman could. Definitely worth a look for all of us who grew up watching those old classics.

Ron Jeremy would be laughing!
Angry_Santa28 April 2020
Using the same sets extensively used for "adult" movies, but featuring production values, writing and acting on a far lower level, Ron and his industry compatriots would be laughing their backsides off that someone was stupid enough to finance something like this.

Maybe - just maybe - a viewer would be able to jump onto the rickety train wreck of what purports to be a story, if they were off their faces on the most mind-numbing of substances. Any sane person though won't be able to handle more than a handful of minutes at a time, no matter what section of the "movie" they dive into.

Thoughtful and Entertaining
Anmer932 April 2020
You see from the outset, two people in one location with a conversational set up, a simple premise that would be very easy to do badly, but not this film! The two leads are very compelling and watchable, the script and dialogue is well written and entertaining. Also I had no idea where it was going to go which keeps you on edge. An interesting depiction of the peaks and troughs of Hollywood glamour and brings all the glitz down to earth, to the human beings at the centre. Well worth the time.

Prepare for a Wild Ride
daveh23323 April 2020
In this genre mash-up film, there's a lot of witty dialogue between the two protagonists, a TV producer and his enemy, a reporter, who are inside mostly in one location, a jail cell, but with maximum plot twists and character development. Confessions of a Producer kind of feels like you're watching theater, but with the convenience watching it in a movie.

A Unique Film
buckeyealum-2456810 April 2020
Confessions of a Producer is about a typical ego maniac Hollywood jail Bird Producer who is interviewed by a Report that thinks next to nothing of him. You will enjoy the back and forth drama in this unorthodox interview.

Without giving away too much I really enjoyed this unexpected tale of a Hollywood producer to tries to redeem himself. The acting was really good and the dialogue funny and unexpected.

Original Genre Bending Indie
Confessions of a Producer is a completely original genre bending film. I totally enjoyed its refreshing yet engaging premise: A producer is cursed and the only way to lift the curse is by his nemesis. Twist! This film is well made with completely original characters and solid performances. If you're tired of the same old contrived storylines we see too often from Hollywood, this film is a refreshing change of pace and totally worth your time~ Fully recommend!

Aspirational Blend of RomCom and SciFi
TheAll-SeeingI22 March 2020
While the road is littered with films that failed to slot into singularly specific genres, Jim Lewis' thoroughly engaging "Confessions of a Producer" paradoxically succeeds on that exact basis, and at a high level. Melding elements of comedy and sci-fi in what becomes a budding romance, this is a shrewdly aspirational film that somehow projects as something uniquely of its own mind and build.

Steve Barrett (Roger Namroc) is a media producer saddled with an enfeebling curse. From the vantage point provided by his jail cell, it becomes clear to him that female reporter Tara Aluran (Clare Grant) -- who has long derided him and his work -- is also now his lone hope for the curse's proper dissolution. Steve is indeed working literally and figurative from the hole in his need to convert Tara's historical animus into newly-found advocacy.

"Confessions of a Producer" leverages tack-sharp dialogue, refreshing story twists, and elite acting from the accomplished Grant to produce a grass roots indie film that delivers on its great conceptual design. - Was this review of use to you? If so, let me know by clicking "Helpful." Cheers!

A very timely film that blends ROM-COM with SCI-FI to make a fun movie to watch
lylejmichelle5 April 2020
Clare Grant and Steve Barrett are excellent in this campy comedy. There are lots twists and turns as the two characters challenge each other while trying to learn more about how each thinks. An impending doom from a curse keeps the story moving with an ever possible tease of romance. It is really interesting to watch the repartee and evolution from protagonists to what may be. The use of the Episodes from a TV show almost work like additional characters in this film. Sharp dialog and great delivery make this fun movie to watch

Very Original
kjs114428 March 2020
Confessions of a Producer is unique and original. The writing is exceptional as the filmmakers keep the viewer intrigued throughout the film, as an unsolved mystery unfolds. The setting of the jail cell is very effective. The actors give excellent performances, and the production value all around is high. Give this one a watch.

Unique Indie
gregwolk6 April 2020
I value originality in film -- despising sequels, prequels and ripoffs -- so I was pleasantly-surprised to come up this indie gem. With good writing and acting, this odd premise succeeds against the odds. As other reviewers have mentioned, this is a genre-bender. For me, that adds to the interest. After all, we don't live our lives within one genre, so why should films do so?

I liked the relationship dynamics between the characters and one trying to convince the other. Shows great strength from the writer / director to pull this off. Cool movie!

A smart, fun modern fairy tale
JCanni685 April 2020
An acting showcase is put on by Steve Barrett and Clare Grant as they display their full range in a story that is genre-blending and a lot of fun. While it predominantly takes place in one location and plays like a stage play, the story feels much bigger, particularly thanks to the roller-coaster story that is well-paced and the fun cutaways. A solid story of redemption at it's core.

If you enjoy a good campy genre bending film, Confessions of a Producer is really going to float your boat. It's funny, fun, and the kind of filmmaking you're only going to find in the indie realm. Great job to the filmmakers and actors- really enjoyed.

Fun and Unique Indie Film
JGReviews25 March 2020
I really like the premise of Confessions of a Producer. A producer is saddled with a curse and ultimately learns that the only way for him to remove the curse is to get a reporter who hates him to like him. It's a fun jumping off point that pits the two leads against each other in an ideal conflict for a script. Then we get to enjoy the adventure along the way. There's also a fun mix of genres at play here as well. If you're looking for a fun and different indie to watch, give Confessions of a Producer a shot.

Confessions of a Producer is a well made film. You don't get many films that have a combination of ROM-COM and Science Fiction. Actors did a good job. I definitely recommend this film. Look forward to seeing future work from the filmmaker.

unexpected turns in original story
andrewtschroeder18 April 2020
This film's story is pretty original. The "show within the show" was interesting and something I'd probably watch on TV! The lead actress holds her own in a story that takes some unexpected turns.
