It may not have been his plan, but Russell Crowe is capitalizing on the return of the iconic “The Exorcist” franchise with separate standalone religious horror films “The Exorcism,” out June 7, and 2023’s “The Pope’s Exorcist.”
Crowe leads Joshua John Miller’s “The Exorcism” as an actor facing demons — maybe literal ones. Consider it a meta twist: The film centers on Anthony Miller (Crowe), a troubled actor who begins to unravel while shooting a supernatural horror film. His estranged daughter, Lee (Ryan Simpkins), wonders if he’s slipping back into his past addictions or if there’s something more sinister at play.
The buzzy cast includes Sam Worthington, Chloe Bailey, Adam Goldberg, David Hyde Pierce, Josh Warren, Adrian Pasdar, and Tracey Bonner.
Director Miller co-wrote the script with M.A. Fortin. “The Exorcism” marks Miller and Fortin’s second feature, after the 2015 horror comedy “The Final Girls.” They also co-created the...

Sure enough, a trailer for The Exorcism has just arrived online, and you can check it out in the embed above!
Crowe recently played real-life exorcist Father Gabriele Amorth in the supernatural horror film The Pope’s Exorcist, which could turn out to be a franchise starter. He actually worked on this movie before making The Pope’s Exorcist – in fact, The Exorcism was first announced four and a half years ago. So it’s good to see that it’s finally making its way out into the world.

Vertical has acquired North American rights to the horror film “The Exorcism,” starring Oscar winner Russell Crowe. It will be released this summer.
If this sounds vaguely familiar, that’s because Crowe also starred in an exorcism movie last year, the underrated “The Pope’s Exorcist.”
The new film follows Anthony Miller (Crowe), “a troubled actor who begins to unravel while shooting a supernatural horror film.” His estranged daughter (Ryan Simpkins) then starts to wonder if he’s slipped back into his addict past or if there’s something more supernatural at work.
“The Exorcism” was directed and co-written (with M.A. Fortin) by Joshua John Miller, who started his career as an actor (one of his first roles was as the little vampire kid in Kathryn Bigelow’s classic “Near Dark”). His father Jason Miller portrayed Father Damien Karras in “The Exorcist,” while his mother Susan Bernard appeared in “Faster Pussycat! Kill! Kill!...

Blumhouse is back with a brand new, original horror movie. And this one also involves a bear! Fresh off of the success of "Five Nights at Freddy's," the studio has released the trailer for its latest creation, "Imaginary." Set to be released by Lionsgate next year, it takes something innocent from our childhoods -- the concept of imaginary friends -- and turns it into something sinister. Check it out above.
The trailer sees DeWanda Wise ("Jurassic World Dominion") moving back into her old home with her family. Things seem happy enough, but then a kid finds an abandoned stuffed bear in the basement. What could possibly go wrong? It turns out a whole lot. Things get downright demonic in a hurry as it turns out this bear has connections to some truly evil s*** beyond our world. The official synopsis for the movie reads as follows:

Chris McCumber, the president of Blumhouse Television, has left the company. The well-respected leader was president of the division for three years.
Current president of production Jeremy Gold will step in as interim head of the company. Gold is not expected to take over the position long-term, and the search for a new president is ongoing. During this transition, Blumhouse TV will also rely on scripted head Chris Dickie.
McCumber’s exit has happened as layoffs have impacted the creative and business affairs departments of Blumhouse TV. Fewer than 10 employees were laid off, TheWrap can confirm. Altogether, there are roughly 100 people in the company.
The unscripted division of the company remained intact as did Blumhouse’s shared services groups. Those include production, casting, Hr, marketing and finance.
“I want to thank Jason Blum and the entire team at Blumhouse for their incredible partnership and support,” McCumber said in a statement.

The cast of the Israeli TV series “Queens,” Season 1, on MHz Choice
The extent to which you may enjoy the Israeli TV series “Queens: Season 1″ depends on expectations from its Mafia-esque premise. All the men in one of the country’s crime families are killed at the beginning, except for one overlooked child, who may or may not have seen the shooter(s). The wives and daughters find themselves on the brink of losing all the wealth and power their husbands oversaw when rival families swoop in claiming debts to be honored and businesses to snatch from them. The women decide to defend their turf and family honor by trying to do what their men had done in running their illegal businesses.
For American audiences, the first analog that comes to mind is “The Sopranos,” with infighting among competing families and ambitious underlings. The closer comparison might be with “Queen of the South,...

Studios are seemingly investing a lot of money in AI and a job post at Netflix shows the streamer is looking to fill an AI Producer Manager role that could pay up to $900K a year.
One of the biggest issues that the striking guilds, WGA and SAG-AFTRA, have with AMPTP is the lack of protections against AI.
“Machine Learning/Artificial Intelligence is powering innovation in all areas of the business. From helping us buy and create great content, helping members choose the right title for them through personalization, to optimizing our payment processing and other revenue-focused initiatives,” reads the job description.
It brings to mind an episode of Black Mirror’s most current season titled “Joan Is Awful,” which depicts an actress struggling with the studio after signing a contract that gave her digital likeness away.
