Great Stuff

Being the big Bing Crosbyphile that I am the discovery of material that I've never seen and heard is a cause for excitement. And when you get Stu Erwin, George Burns&Gracie Allen, and Olsen&Johnson on the same short subject so much the better.

Stu Erwin hosts this Hollywood on Parade short subject which is a plug for the feature film that he, Bing, George, and Gracie would be starring in shortly, The Big Broadcast. Bing does a bit of nonsense with Burns and Allen and discovers that Gracie is married. So was Bing to Dixie Lee at the time as well.

Crosby sings the song Auf Wiedersehen, My Dear which he had sung in a nightclub setting in a Mack Sennett short subject. It's a schmaltzy ballad which he never put down on a commercial record, but crooning rival Russ Columbo did.

Ole Olsen and Chic Johnson end the short with a bit of patented nonsense of their own in a beach sequence with some bathing beauties. All in all just great stuff.
