- In one episode, a young prostitute was brought into the hospital having been beaten by her "uncle" who turns out to be her father. She tells the nurse that her father "will go easier on her" if she does what he wants--repeatedly having sex with her.

- This series takes place in the major hospital in London in the very early 1900s, where only the "poorest of the poor" are served. That said, victims of many accidents, and diseases that are mostly only seen in history books, are portrayed with the accompanying "blood and gore" of primitive, graphic surgeries.
