As an Indian I found it really interesting how he brought humor in complicated history of ours which is really thing to cherish.
More power to you Vir, well done.

This special had me laughing and learning about India's history, customs and people throughout the whole time. It was a great and unique experience. I didn't expect it to be this good. Writing and delivery were on point.
Fantastic set

Fantastic standup set from Vir Das. Some jokes genuinely made me burst out in laughter. But a lot of references and jokes will proably be hard to follow for people who are not from the Indian subcontinent. Would still 100% recommend to anyone who is a fan of good comedy. One of the best standup specials I have seen in recent years.
Excellent Writing

This is Vir Das simply being Vir Das. Loved the way the set looked and the simplicity in which he spoke about the biggest topics which perhaps could be controversial.
The door on the set is symbolic in more ways than one and throughout his special we are reminded of the same.
Highly recommended for Indians. Non-Indians wouldn't be disappointed as well.

This is how a standup should be!

I never write reviews but all the stupid hate ratings made me wanna do this. Vir is a benchmark for indian standup comedians. He is one of those rare comics who is intellectually as well as emotionally stimulating, though he dealt with tender issues, his heart was at the right place. He can be offensive at times, to that i say that no good humor came from being polite!! A must watch if you enjoy quality comedy.
One of the best performances in the history of Indian comedians

For an Indian who's away from home, this would be a completely relatable act - full of historical incidents and dark humour as well.
The best part is the way Vir has connected the dots from the very beginning till the very last moment.
Cheers to Old monk and Parle-G :)

Gets better along the way!!

Got to know in the first couple of minutes that this is intended largely at the 'Non-Indian' audience, introducing them to the great Indian history through satire. Was a bit uncomfortable watching this from a Non-Indian's point of view in the first half as there were so many anecdotes which they absolutely couldn't have understood. But it just got way better because of the fine writing. Was almost in splits by the end of it. Worth a watch, of course.
Thoughtful, thought provoking and hilarious

Brilliant

Vir Das talks and laughs about topics which are universal, while adding a unique Indian twist. You don't need to be Indian to understand, relate and laugh when he talks about the human condition, politics, religion, love. Those into standup will recognise his influences, but these are subtle - he doesn't steal jokes, just takes similar approach to easily recognisable western comedians. When it comes to more local jokes it helps if you know a bit about the history and the culture of India, but he also helps out by providing hilarious explanations for non-Indians. Overall a great set, funny and moving. 9/10
Didn't find it funny at all.

Brilliant Masterpiece

I consider myself an aficionado of stand-up comedy. Definitely my most frequently watched genre on Netflix. The special was so good it made me proud to be of Indian heritage and related to such a brilliant comic. He is the Indian Jerry Seinfeld. World class.
His observations about everyday life are ridiculously on point and his storytelling is masterful. He takes a very American genre (stand up) and translates it into Indian culture with creativity and flair.
I think it's a little hard to fully appreciate without some knowledge of Indian culture but he explicitly speaks to both Eastern and Western audiences.

Surprisingly punctual

The jokes are clever but are also so easy to follow. His pausing and delivery is so perfect that it rivals the likes of Robin Williams. I understood none of the Indian pop culture references and yet I laughed at every single one because I still understood why it would be funny. If you can understand a very clear Indian accent I guarantee you you'll like Vir Das' standup.
Standup comedy can't get much better

Vir Das has just gotten better over the years. I'll be honest I didn't think much of his other specials, but this one's one of the best I've ever seen. Jokes are scattered throughout along with bits of nostalgia and well-intended satire, when due.
Brilliant set

Xplore India Dynamically..!

Very funny and he covered most important topics of India. And at the end, the Parle-G was literally fall in the cup. That was a funniest thing. And overall, hatts øff you VIR DAS! He really have good vocabulary and a sense of humour. Really great. Netflix, just give more opportunities to do this without any pressure. Good, keep it up. Thanku!
Worst show ever
pythonsas30 January 2020
This is most disgusting show ever I showed in my life. Just abusing indians and their culture doesn't make him stand-up comedian but worst person of india. Comedy can generate without abusing any culture or people. But dolt like him won't understand that ever. I wanted to give minus starts if possible.
Great special

Misdirected sense of humor
coolsag00716 February 2020
This guy is funny, I'd give him that. But I have a problem when comedians with their pea-sized brains try to tell you stuff about complex topics and ever so subtly pass judgements that reek of either a questionable bias or plain insufficiant knowledge.
Dangerous, Distasteful Direction
smmrshaon30 January 2020
Used to like his comedy specials. But "Vir Das for India" was stale. That joke about Pakistanis will only win tea cup was such a distasteful joke. Am not Pakistani, but Understand that a lot of hatred, propaganda is there behind that stunt. This is where a lot of home grown Indians fail, they get a big stage and loses their cool. It's taking a dangerous direction. Sorry bud, learn from Russell Peters.
Yawn.

This is not comedy come onn
indicorganics20 November 2021
It's propoganda at best and not comedy...not funny also...he is at best a good orator with sub-par intellectual ability...very cliched topics...mundane issues blown out of context... exceptions shown as rules of India ....he is rich brat who does not even have slightest idea of real india....but chooses to speak for it..
Where is the comedy?
