Protecting Martin Bedall
Tweekums14 November 2012
Warning: Spoilers
When a man named Martin Bedell is murdered Derek is concerned; Martin Bedell was the name of one of the key resistance fighters… Derek is convinced that a terminator is going to kill all the people named Martin Bedell in LA to ensure he gets the right one. There were three such people; one is now dead, one is at military school and another is just a child. In order to protect the one at school John is enrolled and Derek finds himself offered a job; this puts then in the ideal position to protect Martin but the military environment causes Derek to have flashbacks to his time in the war. Meanwhile Sarah and Cameron protect the young boy; they manage to save him just before the terminator can kill him and now Sarah must act like a mother till it is safe to return him to his real family. Away from the Connors Agent Ellison is still thinking about taking up Catherine Weaver's offer of a job; as part of that consideration he helps her by looking into the 'accident' at the nuclear plant.

This was another good episode where the action was mostly divided between protecting the two Martins. It was nice to see a more normal motherly side to Sarah for once as she was forced to look after the boy. Back at school there was some decent action when the terminator turned up; this included shooting it with a .50" calibre rifle and blasting it with claymores! I rather liked how this action scene was carried out while Sarah and young Martin read from 'The Wizard of Oz'. The acting was pretty solid although I thought Brian Austin Green gave the stand out performance when Derek tells the students a rather grim anecdote about the realities of war after one of the boys started asking him how many people he had killed as if war was just a game. The side story involving Ellison and Weaver is still at an early stage I think but it is progressing nicely; she is a delightfully mysterious character… we know she is a terminator but her mission and motivation remain unknown.

They finally start doing something about all of this Terminators that are popping around! And I appreciate it, even everything is taken lightly, sadly.

Repeater Homage...

Yet another machine sparks up and enters the fray, a bit of an Arnie revisit replay, a directory killer, it's a bit of a filler, not quite Garbage, but what can I say.

A Very Under-appreciated Episode
karlallimac3 October 2012
Warning: Spoilers
Some of the criticism's here are well-off the mark. As for giving out about the acting check out the first three Terminator films and you will quickly discover the meaning of bad acting. To say that a steroid- enhanced Schwarzenegger is a poor actor is a grave understatement.

You cannot apply strict rationality to the Terminator franchise. There is no logical reason for the T-800 series to have a thick Austrian accent while prowling American locations.

It would also be much easier to go back in time to kill either parent of Sarah Connor, or any of her ancestors and the future John Connor would either cease to exist or be completely different depending upon who was selected to be assassinated. But then you wouldn't have a film or a television series. That is the problem with using Time Travel in film and television - you cannot think too hard about the ramifications.

As for 'Ridiculous's ridiculous assertion that you can't fire a .50 caliber sniper rifle standing up - evidence of numerous people firing such a weapon from a standing position is freely available on Youtube to prove otherwise. It is also certainly legal.

A fine episode in one of the best television series ever to grace the small screen.

Ridiculous

Derek plants claymores in the woods around the school where the students go running? Really? Yeah, great idea. Also, how the frak is he walking around with that .50 caliber Sniper rifle? That is a highly specialized, extremely dangerous weapon (officially banned from use against humans because it does so much damage) and one that you absolutely do not carry around patrolling a military school crosscountry course - and they just hand it to the new guy (who gets the job without formal experience) and have him walking around with it? Also, lucky no students went running.

Oh, and the whole kidnapping a little boy thing works well with the "keep a low profile" strategy. Plus, the little guy was pretty cool about a cyborg trying to kill him and being abducted.

I appreciate the show for its tone, but this was just too much.

Ridiculous

I'm a fan of T2.

It's my favorite movie of all time.

So obviously i heard about The Sarah Connor Chronicles before it was aired but i never had curiosity to see it because i thought i would not be any good.

I was right.

This was the first episode i saw from this show and i think it couldn't get much worse than this. Terrible acting, RIDICULOUS story (and i mean ridiculous) and a general low quality that should offend most Terminator fans.

One to avoid.
