great mob movie
mrbeamon10 June 2010
This is a very good movie. I suggest it for all mob movie fan's you won't be disappointed. All I can say is that you'll watch it more than once..The characters were all acted out beautifully, there were exciting part's sad part's a full range of directing talent and acting talent as well. Evenhtough it was done on a small budget it didn't diminish the picture one bit.... I can't wait to see the writers other mafia titles. It's time for the mob movie to make a come back and BLOOD LINE fits' in there perfectly among the many excellent mafia titles beginning to spring up throughout the movie industry.I look forward to watching it again and am glad I could add it to my movie collection.

Solid Mafia thriller
skin7023 March 2009
I saw this at it's NY premiere this weekend and was pleasantly surprised by it. According to the director it cost next to nothing to make; with the cast working for credit alone and the director doing all the filming, mixing, and editing himself. This shows in the minor flaws of the film, but that doesn't distract from the movie itself.

The shinning moments in this are really the dialog scenes. Like in Scorsese's "Mean Streets", you get a real fly-on-the-wall look at the down time of the characters. They riff off each other in, what appears to be, great improvisational styling. Several of the cast really shine and the casting choices made for the characters are dead on.

The film flies through at a brisk pace and has plenty of action sequences. Yet, they seem to fall a little flat in the choreography. Still, you can tell by the passion of those involved that they wanted to make this movie the best they could, and they really do try hard to accomplish that.

It's not a perfect movie, but it's worth a look as I would expect a few of the people involved with this to go on to bigger things in the future.

Great Independent Film
snrs011310 January 2011
This was a great written and directed film. The script was gripping and entertaining consisting of all the elements that make up a great Mafia movie. There was blood, love, revenge, guns, torn friendships and emotions and of course what would a Mafia movie be without the F word!

The director did an outstanding job writing the script and executing the filming of the movie. My only criticism would be that in certain scenes it was hard to hear or understand what was being said. I had to rewind and listen closely, sometimes even put the subtitles on.

Tommy Clohessy performed flawlessly and really grasped your attention in each of his scenes. Nigel Harvey and Frank Merlino were also believable in their performances. Fighting scenes could have been slightly improved on but overall Bloodline was an engaging and entertaining film that deserves praise for its plot and ambition. I would definitely recommend it.

good movie

The movie was great, and the story was well written. Charles Parshley was totally believable and really knew his character. I was impressed with how well he was able to capture the aura of a real murderer. He was scary, and yet at the end, you felt for him because all the horrible things he did to get him to where he wanted to be were for nothing.

Worth watching twice for those little things you always miss the first time. This one is not for the kiddies, but for those who want action and like true to life stories, and this one you could definitely see happening in real life.

Blood Line

Sometimes you watch a movie and after 2 hrs of sitting there you think, "ok…?" I hate watching a movie that makes absolutely no sense!!! Blood Line is totally the opposite of this. It is well written, it made sense and it has a little bit of comedy which I enjoyed in addition to the suspense and the non-stop action all the way to the ending. There was not a single second in this movie where I wanted to pause, the suspense was too much…Some movies you can actually tell the outcome, but in Blood Line, the director did a really good job adding a twist to every scene you think you know what's going to happen next! I loved the ending, didn't see that coming!!!!

Pretty bad..
rbap15 February 2011
There are a couple of things that save this movie from being the total wreck that it could've been. One is that a couple of the actors seem to have some potential, the other is that the story is so bad in parts that it's actually amusing.

I honestly don't understand the positive reviews here; the only explanation possible is that the friends of the cast and crew posted them. There is absolutely no way that a serious movie goer could possibly give this film anything above a 5 (and that's being ridiculously generous).

The story, from beginning to end, is filled with clichés. A wannabe mobster gets in with a local boss in an attempt to find out what happened to his father (not at all because he's interested in being a criminal). The ensuing downward spiral affects his life/friends in a negative manner, the wannabe is torn apart, etc...

The script was probably written in one day by a guy who loves gangster films but has no idea how to actually make one. It seems a checklist was followed to put all the right elements together: Wiseguy accents - check, Wiseguy bad attitudes - check, Offers you can't refuse - check, Racist tension with blacks - check, Mob war - check, Innocent victims - check. Problem is, nobody thought to put a check-mark next to "Smart story" or "Tight script".

I don't want to comment on the production value too much because I believe that movies can be well-made without any special effects, and that a good story can always make the viewer forget about the gritty, low-budget appearance. In this film though, because the story is as terrible as it is, it was hard not to notice the poor audio, shoddy camera work, and an overall feel that it was filmed with a Handycam. The locations are threadbare and you get the feeling that friends and cast offered their homes, backyards, and a couple of bars as locations.

I was taken in by these reviews that have absolutely no merit. I hope mine will bring a much needed reality check to the table. It's a bore film, don't waste your time on it.
