Walks like a duck, quacks like a duck ...

The first five minutes are disorienting with a bewigged Michelle Dockery at her desk with rain outside followed by Sienna Miller at a party expecting her missing husband. It took a while longer to understand the non-linear timeline that this show uses. Once the vertigo stopped, this became a solid, though laborious, introduction to what is going on and who the characters are.

The presentation style of the episode cliff-hanger is a little pretentious, but the substance good despite being predictable.

The storyline moved slowly but the characters are well acted. Interesting enough though to keep watching to find out what happens. Cinematography worked for the filming style.

I had a great laugh appr at 5 minute mark when James's assistant is leaving his home and when the door slams shut, I thought the Mail Slot was going to fall out. The whole piece just moved up and down.

The first episode of Anatomy Of A Scandal presents an interesting central narrative, a solid lead and a slower, more laid back approach to its storytelling, but its oft poor writing, laughable ending, ho-hum quality and sometimes repetitive nature keep it from reaching any exceptional heights- though it is, without a doubt, a good episode of television- just not a great one.
