Great closing words

These episodes aren't meant to be super deep, but the last bit said by the Watcher really got me.

Had great potential...
mizbanazir15 September 2021
This episode had an intriguing premise. In fact, a small clip of this episode from the trailer got me excited for the entire show. But after watching it, i was quite disappointed. It definitely is enjoyable and it isn't the worst episode, but it could have been so much better.

First of all, killmonger's character has been portrayed really well. It was interesting to watch how his menacing side unfolds as the episode progresses. Also, the episode has no unnecessary humor which has been a recurring problem in the previous episodes. The pacing was quite decent too.

However, the episode fails to generate the necessary thrills that the story demands. It is very predictable, you can litterally picture how it is going to end too. The other supporting characters as well as tony's, feel extremely and quite shockingly underutilized. Hence, the episode feels bland and forgettable despite having some cool moments.

To sum up, the episode falls prey to poor execution despite having a great premise. Killmonger's character has been given justice and it was really enjoyable to watch that but that's pretty much it. The rest of it falls flat and fails to be a compelling watch.

P. S - This episode (like a few others) ends on a cliffhanger which doesn't really makes sense for a "What if...?" episode unless there's continuation of the episode in the future.

What If... Killmonger Rescued Tony Stark?
Prismark1021 November 2021
Warning: Spoilers
The What If... scenario make another strong use of its alternate timeline strategy.

Michael B Jordan reprises his role as Killmonger. As a soldier he saves Tony Stark in Afghanistan. Reveals Obadiah Stane as a villain. Killmonger looks go have no agenda whatsoever.

However once Killmonger gets Stark to develop an experimental robot drone built with Vibranium. He shows his hand.

The prize was always Wakanda and kill the people that stand in his way, this includes his cousin T'Challa.

The good thing about this story was how Killmonger had the same goals that he had in the Black Panther movie. However he started how, the end destination was the same.

Unlike other instalments, there was hope that ultimately someone was on to him. It made for an enjoyable story.

What If... Killmonger Rescued Tony Stark?
lassegalsgaard15 December 2021
So far, this show has offered a nice mix of stories. Some have been exact copies of the films they were based on, while others have actually done a good job of going away from the material and telling new and interesting stories. The sixth episode of the show's first season was focused on Killmonger in a situation where he saved Tony Stark from being captured by the Ten Rings organization, thereby making sure that he never became Iron Man. An interesting premise that gives life to an enjoyable episode, although one that never really gets the boost is needs to become a great episode.

The few clips of this episode that we saw in the trailer were very intriguing to say the least. There were a lot of nice things they could have done with a team-up like that. However, they decided to go a more predictable way with it, and instead of turning around certain elements, the creative team goes for the necessary punches, but none of them land all that well. The idea of having Killmonger as the focus point of this episode was great, and for the most part he works within the perimeters that they give him. There's not a lot that changes from the characterization he had in the film, but we still get to see some of the more caring sides of him. However, the episode does have a brisk pace that often is a little too brisk. A lot of things happen in a short amount of time, and it gets a little difficult to follow along with everything. I get that they're dedicated to telling these stories within the time limit they have, but I do believe some of them are a little too big for the amount of time they are given. It leads to an abrupt ending that sets up something that we might get to see down the line but doesn't leave any hints as to what the next step in the storyline may actually be. I think they're experimenting a little too much with these episodes, instead of focusing on giving us quality storytelling in small doses.

"What If... Killmonger Rescued Tony Stark?" is a fine episode that puts one of the best antagonists of the universe in the focus. However, the episode is a little too much to digest and it makes the pace falter a whole lot, so despite the enjoyable parts of the episode, it's still a little disappointing.

stop killing Tony
mhorrighan15 September 2021
Warning: Spoilers
Hey Marvel, if you could stop killing Tony Stark for just one second, that'd be cool. There also was no need to make us relive that Endgame trauma moment I'm still paying my therapist good money for.

Interesting episode with a good What If twist, not the best so far but still strong and it's always very emotional to hear Chadwick's voice. Good work, now give us a second zombie episode.

Not the Episode I Expected but a Welcomed One
Avery-WanSacritic16 September 2021
Warning: Spoilers
I was expecting more Tony Stark instead of Killmonger but the plot was just as worth it. A great scenario about Killmonger joining forces with Tony Stark and the consequences of that happening. The real major consequence is Iron Man not being born. It's all doom and gloom from there as Killmonger walks on the road to achieving revenge. It does end with hope and a quick remark about heroes and their inspiration.

Everyone's an idiot but Erik
martinhoffmann-2166517 September 2021
Warning: Spoilers
That's what the title of this should've been. No one gets smart about Killmonger's plan. Stark is suddenly an idiot, he really thinks that a guy he just met wants nothing but the best for him and even after he realizes that's not he case, he tells him he knows of him killing Rhodey before giving a copy of the video to anybody else. Wakandan's arte suddenly stupid enough not to realize this guy is definitely planning something. Characters known for being some of the smartest people in the entire MCU get outsmarted by a guy that originally only takes the throne because he wins a duel.

Not to mention the timeline makes no sense, Killmonger would've been way younger than he is in Black Panther by the time the events in Ironman take place. In short, this is barely a "What if Killmonger rescued Stark?" Its more of a "What if everyone was an idiot but Erik Killmonger?" And the answer is simple. It would be boring.

Why is everyone saying this movie is bad
satekithroughtheocean1 October 2021
This movie is amazing enough to be its own MCU project it is the best episode of the whole series and is planned out nicely like a murder mystery movie type, it is amazing and shockingly perfect.

Warning: Spoilers
This episode was pretty enjoyable but underwhelming. Tony was a bit nerfed, the way kilmonger fooled everyone was a bit unrealistic. Black panther died way too easily and Tony. Plus the ending wasn't that exciting.

Only bad episode so far

Only reason I thought it was bad, they made everyone so dumb and easy to manipulate when that's just not who they are.

Wakan-daddy issues.
southdavid16 September 2021
Warning: Spoilers
The sixth episode of "What if. . . ?" takes what is perhaps the MCU's single most important moment, and decides to flip that on its head. No Ironman, no avengers, instead manipulation and all-out war.

On a mission to Afghanistan, Tony Stark (Mick Wingert) has his convoy attacked by the Ten Rings terrorist group. Instead of physical damage and weeks of incarceration to teach him some humility, Stark is saved by Erik 'Killmonger' Stevens (Michael B Jordan), a Navy officer. Returned home, Stevens joins Stark Enterprises and tells Tony of his plan for an army of robot drones, built of Vibranium. But Killmongers plans are grander and involve recapturing what he believes is his birth right.

Again, really cool animation for this episode, the war between the drones and the Wakandan's was particularly memorable. The vocal performances were good, Mick Wingert does do a decent RDJ impression and the myriad of returning actors were impressive.

The storyline was OK. Though changing a major part of the storyline of the MCU it doesn't just replace characters with other characters, rather allows them all to be played by Killmonger who "does a Palpatine" to get what he wants. Like the Emperor, he's not above killing off characters to further his aims and there are some surprising deaths here, and by that, I mean both "poignant" and "confusing". Somehow, though it's a trick that has been incorporated by several episodes of "What If . .?" this time I was unsatisfied by the open ending to the story.

What it did make me want was more of Michael B Jordan playing the Kilmonger character? Surely there's room on Disney Plus for a story involving his time as a Black Ops soldier? Meeting and befriending Klaue, how about fighting alongside John Walker? ... this thing writes itself. Disney, you've got my subscriber details, give me a call.

Serviceable
Trey_Trebuchet16 September 2021
Not bad. I felt like most of the characters from Iron Man were kind of bland or just uninteresting. Black Panther and Iron Man are two of my absolutely favorite MCU movies so blending them together, while kind of fun, felt like it could have been tweaked a bit. I don't know, it's not bad, but by the end, I just felt like something was missing.

Iron Man X Black Panther
MandalBros-515 September 2021
I loved these ideas in this series that how a little change in a timeline can lead to so many big things in the storyline. These are so good looking.

Only if the runtime of these episodes were more, all the episodes would've been treat for fans.

But, I loved what we've right now. Just hoping to see the season 2 episodes with more runtime (at least 1 hr).

Available on Disney+ Hotstar.

Moves too fast
stppts1232 October 2021
Warning: Spoilers
This episode has a few things going for it. I liked the plot, but I felt it went by to fast. My biggest complaint is that it felt like the characters were talking twice as fast as they normally would. They tried to take killmongers personality(one of the best parts of black panther) and make it blend with what if, and it just didn't work for me. Going back to the plot thought, I thought it was good. Nothing special, but an entertaining idea. I liked how killmonger eliminated the people who stood in his way one by one, but they just did it to fast. The pacing was really off this episode. When your trying to process one character dying they just kill someone else. Besides these things I thought it was not a waste of time.

Weakest one so far
elliotpower200021 November 2021
Warning: Spoilers
This episode is probably the weakest one so far. It focuses on iron man and killmonger and changes the part where iron man is ambushed however killmonger saves him and becomes iron man's right hand man and try's to take over that way. A good idea but not the best episode.

Solid start but fell flat by the end
ha77y73ad9724 September 2021
Warning: Spoilers
So far this is the weakest of the episodes of the series. There were a few issues and small details that Marvel are normal very good at making sure these match the original movie.

Story actually not to bad for this one, as Killmonger helps Stark through out this there are moments that are being pulled from all walks of the MCU. Instead of disarming, Stark ramps up the production of his weapons'. Stain is arrested, no Ironmonger, instead of Ultron leading them to the Vibranium source of Ulysses Klaue but is able to convince Stark in get Rhodes and his branch of the military to secure the element.

This is probably where the episode starts to go down hill. This is the turning point Rhodes and Black Panther are killed off quickly after the deal goes south. Stark shortly after returning to the States but with any Jarvis tech he's always watching. Confronting Killmonger this is where the story goes at rapid pace to fit this in 15 minutes before the end. In this time hes able to create a Stark drone army, win over the Wakandan royal family and stop the drones to show them hes loyal.

A massive cliffhanger ends this and this seems to be the running theme for the later few stories that have been told but i hope this isnt the trend or if these all come together by the final 2 eps.

Eh
bowlingbaritone6 October 2021
This episode was meh. You could totally skip this one. I liked Erik a lot in this episode. He was way smarter than the movie version. The premise was just too straightforward though. And I think some people were acting a bit too dumb for my liking. Overall, very meh.
