My Bima-S Review (First Season so far): A decent tribute to Satria Heroes, ala Animation

(some season 1 spoilers warning)

Bima-S, is an Indonesian animated series created and produced by MNC Animation in which most of the aspects are adapted from Satria Heroes Franchise.

This cartoon tells the story of a man named Satria, whose body got soul transferred by a scientist named Dr. Bre using his father's soul. As a result, it will risk him into having more limited lifespan due to the father's soul residing in his body. So that Satria and his friends must find the 7 lost Matrix pieces around the space. By transforming into Bima-S, he could fight various monsters and villains in his adventures. The main villain of the story is Dr. Bre himself, who became Infernus, the evil titan at some point, and his goals is to save his wife. He has a second in command general called Masked Warrior which turns out to be the soulless Skylar being controlled by Infernus as his puppet soldier. There are also other villains known as the Gobloots, which are just typical space pirates. After assembling all of the Matrix pieces, Satria and Skylar are completely free from the soul swapping trouble. But then Infernus and those goblins went to action, to stop the heroes. In the finale, Satria was able to stop the villains, but they're too late to prevent the second Growler apocalypse thingy from happening as the cannons with growler virus on the ammo are already fired. The first season ends with Satria and Infernus ended up getting sucked into the black hole altogether.

MNC created this with an intent to adapt Bima series that we know today in form of a cartoon, but the reception in the beginning is quite promising when the show had given its first look teasers of the hero. Until the time the show had brought more teasers of the animation, and eventually airing on tv... The reception from the fanbase drastically changed, with some fans considering to disliking this show without even giving constructive criticism towards the show. The fact that the animation quality, some voice acting, and the writing in the first season being inferior makes the fans fully dislike the show. In the other hand, the fans of Satria Heroes also wanted the Satria Heroes Kai animation's release to come to fruition quickly as possible even when they are in the times Bima-S was still a thing. And if you know, you know...

When it comes to criticism, the staff working on the animation seems to be very responsive only if you send a response towards them through an Instagram story since their only way of responding fan feedback is through Instagram stories. They may be reliant on these things to respond, but if you utilize it correctly, it will be helpful for giving out some feedback towards the staff so that they could improve the show in later episodes or seasons.

I know it is not recommended to watch Bima-S due to the polarized reception from the fanbase, but it's better to watch the second season instead due to the improvements in various aspects of the show.

Overall, Bima-S is just a decent show to me. Some aspects may be good like the suit designs of the heroes, but I feel certain characters feel either boring or bland like those goblins in show. Also, fun fact that Bima-S himself has no ability to change forms throughout the show's run.
