Alex applies Alex is fired Alex sinks in

A critical moment for Alex here. Every episode, something happens to her but in this episode, the stake is even higher. She has no source of income other than Regina because she got fired, which was her fault somewhat. And that is in jeopardy because Sean gave Nate's car back to Nate and Alex probably doesn't want to go pick it up again because that bridge is gone. There were definitely some sweet moments between Alex and Sean only to turn out that Sean is still the same POS. His drinking exacerbates his violence but it's not its source. It was really heartbreaking when Alex blames for her circumstances. It's hard to watch someone be completely broke and actually have it like down to zero dollars. She also got into the writing program but she is in many ways back to square one with no job, no money, no house and no car. Wonder how she's gonna get through this one. I hope Alex leaving her writing at Regina's was like foreshadowing her getting published and good things happening to her. By the way, Regina is a comedic genius.

Alex and Paula's relationship is really complicated and it does feel like a mother-daughter relationship, probably because it was. I think they nailed in their interactions about how each one feels about the other party.

In many ways, a tough episode to watch.

Phenomenal

This is a powerhouse of an episode. Such a realistic way of showing how domestic abuse can easily crawl up on you without even knowing it, even if you've been through it. Margaret Qually is phenomenal in portraying Alex. Nick Robinson does a very good job too. He's the perfect fit. He fools the audience with his cute, charming portrayal of Sean, while the abuser in him is still alive. Douze points!

Genuine and emotional. Grandiose.

What fascinates me about this series is its realism. No character is overdrawn, but quite the opposite - real and authentic. However, you don't watch a rational treatise on the subject, but experience it intensively. Several times I was close to tears. Netflix likes to undercut my expectations, but with this series they have - as of now - succeeded in creating a work of art. Wonderful!

Real psychology
Gala19868 November 2021
A very psychologically accurate plot. The show is as realistic and believable as possible. And it is worth watching every woman who thinks whether to return to her ex or not. And alas, the answer here is unequivocal.

The line with Alex's mother is also important. And also very psychologically subtle. Whatever you look at, this is also emotional abuse ...

Maid (2021)

Series

1st Season

Episode Eight - Obstáculos

It seems that the bearded guy's good guy mask fell, Alex had made it very clear, she said just draw and put it on a billboard that she wasn't into him, he was helping because he wanted to, but she has no obligation to go to bed With him, I wouldn't even keep his car after that.

I already knew this (unfortunately), but watching this series and reading the comments on the Series Bank, you can see how much more people tend to hate the attitudes of those who are attacked in an abusive relationship than to hate the aggressor.

"Yeah, but why did she come back?" "She really likes to suffer" "She's very stupid" "The other guy is nice to her, but she wants the one who beat her" "Women like to be beaten" "She's in this relationship because she wants to, why didn't she leave" "Then she dies and you don't know why" and several other phrases about this and, incredible as it may seem, the majority are from women (why doesn't that surprise me?).

Episode eight of the first season of the Miniseries Maid watched on May 23, 2024.

Rating: 10/10.
