Excellent twists and turns in this and the team forming an alliance is very good. The outtie storyline is furthered a lot more as well as the innie storyline and it's all very good.

The show is great, it really is. I enjoy everything about it, the writing and dialog, the score, all the actors are great, cinematography, the colors and tone. It's all very well done, but...
I'm ready for some answers, the show has given the viewer next to nothing, scraps. Give me something, anything, instead of stringing me along week after week, piling mystery on top of mystery. At this point, to leave an episode on a minor cliffhanger is annoying, frustration level: 7/10.
Beginning to think it would have been a better idea to pick this series up after it had aired the entirety of its first season...
Revisit: I feel like this was the weakest episode of the season, though still excellent. Not a lot happened outside of the mysterious ending. Still excellent.

Last episode produced a bit of a lull. This time things move forward on several fronts. Inside the office, some dissent and collaboration causing management to clamp down. Outside a developing relationship gives insight into Mark's backstory and motivation. We are also introduced to Cobel's disturbing religiosity with respect to the organisation.
All around a decent chapter.

Oh I was SO close to realizing my childhood dream. For nearly three whole decades I've thought to myself, "if only I could get to see John Turturro and Christopher Walken kiss, I could die a happy man." It was merely a pipe dream, but as I watched this episode, nay, started watching this series, I have been waiting with bated breath for this blissful cinematic golden moment to transpire... Oh how Apple TV and the film gods have teased me, and led me closer than ever before to this majestic moment. Now, I'm afraid it seems I am further than ever before... what a cruel, cruel happenstance has transpired.... But other than that, this was a pretty good episode.
Exhilarating stuff

Definitely an episode I would consider as one of the best so far. This episode shows a lot of promise for the rest of the season and I really like how it's incorporating both storylines (outie/Innie) as I edge closer to the end. As I said in previous episodes, the mystery element is what keeps the show fresh. The episodes before this were almost pointing toward nowhere but at least it was progressing the story in a way that didn't feel unnecessary.
Another thing to point out is how every character's arc is intertwined with the overall story. It's quite interesting to see how they're able to connect a certain character's storyline with the current narrative without skipping a beat.
The show's back on the right track with this episode and hopefully it continues to stay that way.

One of the things that makes the Apple TV+ series Severance really stand out is that it never really allows the audience to get comfortable. Certainly, the show pretends as if the point of the procedure at the center of the plot allows for there to be a work-life balance for the people on Severance, but is that really the case? That's the question that has been formulated and then underlined and highlighted over and over again. Episode 5 of the series titled, "The Grim Barbarity Of Optics and Design," brings that into focus more clearly than any of the installment that came before it. The point of the Apple TV+ original is supposed to be that people who undergo the surgery to separate their work selves (Innies) and their private life selves (Outties) are able to completely leave their private lives at home when they come to the office. Likewise, they are supposed to leave their work lives at the office when they go home. Certainly, there's been some intentional blurring of the lines since the very beginning. However, "Grim Barbarity" showed just how much of the blurring of the lines there has been, even if that blurring only offers up more questions, more mysteries and at least some awakening of the people in Lumon figuring out something is very, very strange going on. While the show has been leaning on being weird from the very beginning, things took a decidedly dark turn in the most recent episode. There is of course the fact that Helly R's Outtie would not allow her to quit Lumon even when she tried to kill herself. Of course, the fact that she's gone through the Severance procedure makes it easier for the company to lie about what really happened, but she still came back after just a few days. The audience has already been treated to Helly's Outtie and what she feels about the Innie. There's real hatred there, as the Innie points out, she was told she's not really a person. One of the reasons Severance is so good is that the simple truth is that those answers don't have to be spelled out. The show relies on keeping people off balance and for the most part, it works incredibly well. Some shows could go out of their way to be weird to the point where it's annoying, but Ben Stiller's show continues to handle it almost perfectly. Severance is available on Apple TV+ now with new episodes coming every Friday.

The show is intriguing, but they are raising a lot of questions, and still have given no satisfying answers. I hate these episodic shows, that cut away, or end just when you are about to see something that answers the questions they've raised. The show is already planning for a second season, so I'm sure there won't be as many answers as there are questions by the end of this season. I wouldn't be so annoyed by all of this if the show wasn't interesting. I like it, but I hate the way they are dragging it out. Most shows on Apple TV do this. Oh, and I've never hated Patricia Arquette in something this much, so there's something to that. If her character is supposed to be hated, she's doing a great job. It's been some time since I wanted something horrible to happen to a character on a show. I wish this show was released on Netflix, or the whole season was released at once. I thought that was the point of streaming, but since others have joined Netflix in the streaming world, they are capitalizing on slow moving intrigue, and I hate it.

Exhausting visuals

Warning: Spoilers
Depite many interesting things in this show, I'm very aware of its visual treatment. Art direction and simmetry shots are pushing me off the show over and over. It has a postmodern feel with nothing really inside.
Also, I think they didn't choose the most interesting path to unfold the story. Not the mystery. We know something fishy is going on from the titles in the very first episode. Characters mustn't be questioning this in episode five.
The most intereting part of this idea, how people would deal with this break up between work and real life, is underexplored. Only One character deals with it, but not with the depth necessary to be a strong point.

This episode did slow down a bit. But what it makes up for is finally bri if the characters out into the real world and seeing what some of there lives are like. Seeing more people on the inside and outside and how the company has effected them. So tho I felt it dragged a bit I am really excited for the next episode and to see what happens next.

Episode 6: The mumbo continuing in a more beta mode for almost all the
"lurons" (lads) in that "?" Company. We see sets of pictures, photography and developing acting without true meaning in the truest form of a 'philosophical' or 'psychological' explanation.
All the characters existence and behavior are like glitches in a code, including Harmony who sold her soul to the glitch devil and she actually does some sort of praying in this episode!
The timelines are very confusing. More questions than answers and it heavily spoils the good acting. Is that 'Legion' in a bug company?!
Rise up, you puny "colleagues" and beat the sh@@ out of Milchick!

I don't want them to deviate too much from the mystery and have it just be a union vs. Execs thing, but business certainly picked up in this episode.
The show is getting a little too much hype in my mind, but it is still entertaining.
