This episode introduced me to iCarly and tbh I am happy it did.

Ok yes, Fred is annoying I know but I was 6 or 7 back then and it was the most exciting thing for me back then. Overall, this episode is decent. Maybe not the best iCarly episode but I am 20 now and I am still happy I became a fan of iCarly because of this one particular episode.

By far the worst episode of the sitcom, and maybe one of the worst episodes of any TV show. Ever.
Reckno641 October 2019
Warning: Spoilers
It honestly doesn't even deserve the 4 stars it has, let alone 1 star. It is APPALLINGLY bad. I hated this one even as a kid when I saw it, and I absolutely despise it as an adult. Anyone who has seen it knows why it's bad.

Freddie (very respectfully I might add) says he doesn't think "Fred" (the annoying web star of 2008) is all that funny (and he is absolutely right). After Freddie states his unpopular opinion, "Fred" decides to shut his web show down since one person said they didn't find him funny, and the whole world proceeds to bully and harass Freddie over it. It isn't fun to watch, like at all. You just feel bad for Freddie as he is kicked out of every club he's in and gets beaten over "ruining" Fred. Apparently everyone in the school liked Fred so much that they proceed to torment Freddie incessantly throughout the duration of the entire episode. It's just......disgusting honestly. It gets so bad that they decide to contact "Fred" and make him resume his show so the incessant bullying stops. Turns out it was all a "ploy" from "Fred" to boost ratings on iCarly's web show (which worked somehow.....). No lesson is learned by the end of the episode. In fact, Freddie is FORCED TO APOLOGIZE for saying he didn't think "Fred" was all that funny. For having an opinion, he is forced to apologize pretty much at gunpoint because it is "unpopular". (Maybe not at gunpoint but you get the idea.....)

This episode is quite disgusting honestly. I did enjoy iCarly the show for the most part, but this one episode is the biggest blemish on this show's record. It enforces the stigma that is having an unpopular opinion is something you shouldn't express otherwise face the wrath of the world (and I guess that is true sadly). And it's all played for laughs. I can't express enough why I despise this episode. Just watch PieGuyRulz rant video on the episode to get a full idea of its rottenness.....

Also I think there's a B plot with Spencer taking orders from a magic meatball (stolen DIRECTLY from an episode of Rocko's Modern Life I might add, but without any of the charm of that episode). It adds nothing, nor is it funny either.

Watch iMeetFred at your own risk. Unless you are planning your very own rant video on this garbage episode, I recommend avoiding at ALL costs.....

How is seeing an innocent person getting bullied funny?
jazzymurray9816 October 2017
Warning: Spoilers
It surprises me how there are people who defend this episode; they're also probably the same people who use the "It's just a comedy" excuse. What I want to know is how they would feel if the same thing happened to them? What if George Lucas were to make a public announcement stating that he was no longer going to make any more movies all because you said in a Tweet that you don't like his movies? He even shows your name and face, so the whole world knows who you are. Millions of his fan would send you death threats and bash you on social media, and hundreds of celebrities would also join in on the harassment. You'd get harassed at your job and your boss may even fire you because they're either a George Lucas fan, or they're forced to do so because of Lucas's crazed fans threatening to kill them or the company's profits are falling because of you. Then you get banned from every store and restaurant in your town because your mere presence offends so many people to the point of being bad for any and all businesses. Your family and partner even join in and start harassing you because they're getting some of the hate too. Fed up with the bullying your family forces you to go to George Lucas's house, and get down on your hands and knees and beg George Lucas for forgiveness. When you refused and defend your opinion, they all gang up on you and beat you up and break some of your bones while George Lucas watches and does nothing. That's when you finally apologize to George Lucas and beg him to start making movies. After you say that he says, "ha ha ha, I was just joking the whole time. I was never going to stop making movies. I just said that to gain more popularity and earn more money for when I released the next Star Wars movie as a surprise to the fans." He then apologizes to your partner and your family and ultimately ignores you, he even finds what happened to you somewhat funny. He finally announces that he's back to making movies and everyone is relieved, but you'll forever be known as the person who almost killed George Lucas. On a scale of 1 to ten 10 much would you hate George Lucas for running your life for the sake of him making a profit? I don't know about you but I would plan on assassinating him for that if that ever happened to me. Also, there are people in the real world who kill themselves over stuff like that. This is why a lot of people hated this episode. It's not funny in the slightest because the person who indicated the harassment never got punished, the wrong people received the apology, a person who was punished just for having a different opinion than everyone else never got rewarded of redeemed. Everything about this episode is just wrong and the people who wrote this need to rethink their moral compass, seriously.

if i was freddie i would say: "hey it's my opinion deal with it".
segersdiego22 December 2019
Warning: Spoilers
The worst part is when freddie is forced to say that fred is a funny youtuber (even if it's not his opinion).

I hate this episode because i think it shows that "if you hate a famous person, you deserve to be bullied" to it's younger demographic.

it deserves every piece of critism it got.

Having an opinion doesn't matter
disastrousdallas4 March 2018
Warning: Spoilers
This Episode deserves its place as the worst in the series, simply because they had the decent opportunity to teach people that they have an opinion and are entitled to such, but instead force down our throat that because you have one that is unpopular you deserve to be harassed and bullied because of such an opinion.

In a modern day where the Internet is more popular than ever before, this Episode could have stood the test of time (except for featuring a long since dead youtube star) where it could have taught kids that you have an opinion and shouldn't be bullied because of it.

the other reason is because this started the trend of, they're the flavour of the month lets make them big on TV as well, something that was gone down hill terrifically in recent years.

What happens when huge corporations suck up to crappy web stars?
crow3000200328 June 2010
Warning: Spoilers
First off, before I begin, I am not an iCarly fan, so I may be a bit biased with this review, so if you like Fred or iCarly, please go away, as you will not want to read this.

This episode is nothing more than cheap publicity for a Youtube idiot who doesn't deserve all the fame and accolades he gets. The plot has Freddie saying that he hates Fred videos (That boy has good tastes), and as a result, Fred stops making videos (Over one guy's criticism? There's lots of people on Youtube who hate him, myself included) and Freddie is attacked verbally and physically by his so called friends and such, thanks to his superb comment making iCarly's (The web show)ratings plummet.

There are several flaws with this episode, but the main one is the fanatical adoration of Mr. Chipmunk Voice. Obviously it' Nickelodeon selling out, as this episode basically has everyone (Sans Freddie) having an obsession to Fred, to the point where it's apparent he's in it for the money. I hate Fred just as much, if not more than Freddie, yet I never had to suffer such unforgiving wrath from my peers.

On a slightly more comical note, the side plot is actually better than the main plot. Carly's brother whose name escapes me takes advice from a meatball. I'd say it's Fred's brain, in keeping with the Squeaky-Voice is God theme of the episode, but then I'd ruin the best part.

In short, if you like seeing an internet retard play the role of a God Mode Mary Sue, then this episode is right up your alley. Otherwise, stay FAR away unless you are a glutton for punishment.

Have an unpopular opinion? Well get bullied!
bowdend-7360530 July 2021
Warning: Spoilers
This is iCarly's weakest episode and it has a dumb storyline. So the main story sees Freddie disliking Fred because he finds him annoying. This causes his friends to harrass him from having a different opinion on a star and viewers are dropping for iCarly. So Freddie decides to go visit Fred in which he staged the whole thing so he could get clout. Dude, a teenager was harrassed relentlessly because of you! But, Freddie is all chill with it and the iCarly gang make one of the worst segments of the show: Fredrified iCarly. So annoying.

However, the only redeeming quality of this episode is Spencer and the magic meatball. He steals the show and lights me up a bit aside from disagreeing with Fredward.

This is just so asinine!
kalebdaynes26 August 2015
So, the episode shows the Carly, Sam and Freddie watching some guy named "Fred" who has a really high voice and is annoying as hell. All of them (except for Freddie) laughed, and they wondered why he wasn't laughing, then he said it was because he didn't find it funny. Soon, Fred sends a video to Freddie saying that he was never ever gonna make a video again (so, in other words, his voice matched his maturity level), then everyone turned against Freddie. That's really dumb, because I'm sure "Fred" gets told he's not funny all the time, so it's really stupid that he stops making videos suddenly because Freddie voiced his opinion. And the stupid thing is, Carly and Sam are supposedly his best friends, and they didn't defend him at all. They sided against him.

Look, Freddie did nothing wrong. He voiced his opinion. He CAN do that, 'ya know?!? And if Carly and Sam were his REAL friends, they would defend him. But instead, they were so concerned with their Web-show which sucks ass anyway, and didn't care about how horribly Freddie was being treated. And Sam beat him with a tennis racked because he still didn't find it funny. It wasn't funny anyway. Some friends they are. Bitches. Seriously, why bother with this terrible show? Why not change the channel to something good, like King of the Hill? I mean, seriously?

One of the worst episodes of the series. Sam and Carly behaves very selfcentered. Fred with his highpitched voice is the most annoying character in television history. Spencer is behaving stupidly.

Popular Opinion: It's Okay to Have Unpopular Opinions
rossmatthew-8542812 January 2024
Warning: Spoilers
This episode is perhaps the worst of the series largely for three main reasons: 1) Inordinate and unnecessary Freddie bullying and abuse 2) Having an unpopular opinion about someone means that you can be subjected to physical battery and verbal abuse from others who disagree with you 3) Fred's voice is annoying (Although this reason isn't really a main one, but rather it gives the viewer something more to hate about the episode.)

So in the beginning of the episode, the iCarly gang is filming an episode of their web show, and they are reacting to a Fred video where he goes swimming. Once that video has ended, Carly and Sam express interest in watching another Fred video, but Freddie says that he'd rather the girls shave stuffed animals because he doesn't think Fred is very funny. Now you've done it, Freddie. Because of Freddie's harmless comment, Fred announces that his feelings are hurt and will no longer be posting any videos. So, everybody takes out the majority of their anger on Freddie, causing him to get bombarded with insults and taunts, him getting kicked out of all his clubs, and even acts of physical violence and threats against him. And the iCarly crew is also affected by proxy, as many stop watching iCarly and people are taunting Carly and Sam. Oh, and Spencer buys an ostrich because he listened to a magic meatball. (Just watch the episode if you want more context). Anyway, because the iCarly crew is being subjected to unwarranted hate, they decide they need to set out to Fred's place and talk to him. It turns out that Fred set the whole thing up in a convoluted attempt at attracting more attention and viewers for himself AND for iCarly. Anyway, Freddie was forced to apologize to Fred by Sam because he dared to think that Fred wasn't funny. The episode ends with Fred appearing on iCarly and a short video of Fred and the gang.

So, because Freddie had an unpopular opinion, he damaged Fred's fragile ego which was really a stupid plot to increase his own popularity and to increase iCarly's popularity by extent. There's no way somebody wouldn't have been suspicious as to why Freddie's comment made Fred stop making videos, even with Fred explicitly stating how Freddie was the reason he would stop uploading. There's no way Fred as popular as he had never received a single hate comment, especially considering how annoying his videos can be. And if he couldn't take a single hate comment (which wasn't even close to being a hateful comment), then he had absolutely no business being online and making videos. And after the gang travelled all the way to where Fred lived and Fred revealing his ulterior motives behind the whole brouhaha, instead of Fred apologizing about everything he put the gang through, Freddie especially, he and Sam forced Freddie to utter an apology over an innocuous comment. Talk about adding insult to injury. So yeah, overall, a horrible episode.

PROS: Be that there is very little to like about this episode, this episode does present itself with a few saving graces.

1. This episode did have a rather understandable storyline, it's just that the story itself sucked horrible.

2. Spencer walking out of the elevator with an ostrich and a smoothie and Freddie screaming will never not be funny.

3. The sketch with Fred and iCarly was kinda funny. Not very funny. Kinda funny.

I think this episode would work a lot better if it was a coincidence that Fred stopped posting videos after Freddie said that his videos weren't very funny. ICarly could be losing viewers and receive the occasional hate comment. Then the gang could get all bent out of shape and resort to traveling to his home as a Hail Mary to recover their reputation. It could be revealed that Fred saw the iCarly episode and went on vacation for a while. He could clear up the situation by appearing on iCarly. Would this have been a spectacular episode? Probably not. But it would have been a pretty decent episode and definitely better than this mess.
