Welcome Back
Hitchcoc7 October 2021
First of all, I'm feeling a bit giddy about having some of my old friends back on the screen: Brass, Grissom, Sidle, Hodges. The reality, we have a host of new personalities filling the void these left years ago. Most TV shows of this type are doomed to failure because we have no connection to these people. You can't go home again, if you will. Still, the first case brings our friend Hodges into the mix. A lot of time is spent goiing over the lab and introducing the characters. Will people be patient enough. The show opens with Brass, facing blindness, being attacked by a man, whom he kills. Then there is a fire at a pawn shop where a pile of guns is fused together. And mention of an old adversary. Perhaps they can stick to the cases in the second episode.

WHO ARE YOU
Calicodreamin14 October 2021
As a fan of the original, I was pleasantly impressed with this reboot/sequel. The theme song brought a small tear of nostalgia to my eye. The main storyline was interesting and the new recruits held up fairly well. The arson/murder investigation was unnecessary and the extras were mediocre actors. That ending though, iconic.

After a much needed rest...
koohii13 May 2023
The first CSI show survived 8 years of cast changes, the occasional weak story, upheavals, cast departures, and more. After those 8 years, we had 5 years (or 4 years and a special series finale) that were increasingly poorly written with lead performers who were just not able to deliver. So the show was cancelled and allowed to rest.

There was a lot of emphasis in the ads about the relationship between the characters of Grissom and Sidle, to the point I was worries that this show would be a mindless soap opera. Well, much to my surprise and pleasure, it isn't. Some of the magic is back. Not all of it--some of the new cast are underwhelming (so far), and some of the writing is... dubious. But for the most part, this is an excellent continuation of the series that departed our screens 5 years ago. (Mind you, the bar on that is so low...) There are some logic stretches and a few conclusions jumped to without support that just happen to be right.

If only NCIS would do the same: take a break, find itself again, and get back to what it was at it's core roots.

Oh that was good...

Great interesting new cast. Great performances by legacy characters. No agenda, no politics, just good old fashioned crime scene investigation. It's back and better than ever.

Sin City Magic
fagermo7 October 2021
It was like going back 20 years. I don't think I'm the only one who got the shivers when we heard the good old theme song "Who Are You".

It's an interesting premise to have a season long arc with David Hodges. It will be fun to see what cases come up during the upcoming weeks.

I am really looking forward to be watching CSI every week again.

Loved it
agerson247 October 2021
It was good but knowing that Grissom was going to say "follow the evidence" at the end when he paused is what made this great for me :). They found a nice balance between it being a sequel and a revival so I'm looking forward to the season. Also, I love Sara and Jorja did a great job of picking up right where she left off. Literally my only "complaint" is that some of the actors mumbled or didn't speak very clearly so I had to have subtitles on for a couple scenes. Not a big deal, the acting was still great but it was a bit annoying at times.

A bit of realism
extex-478137 October 2021
As a for-real Fuchs Corneal patient, I was totally shocked that it was actually mentioned on a TV program. It is such a lesser known eye disease, how did the writers decide to diagnose "Jim Brass" with it? I have been diagnosed for over 28 years.

If you need any more information, would be happy to help.

The legends return!
Jennifer-Stickney7 October 2021
I started with the original series when it first started. Seeing the ones who started it all back on the screen mixed in with some fresh blood made for an explosive start. I can't wait to see how the continuation goes! <3.

Terrible performances and B story
svanisvani9412 October 2021
First of all, all the returning characters retain the old charisma and class and they're the only positive thing about this episode and lot of that could be due to nostalgia too. But. To go to the negative side of things, new cast's performances are worse than one another and especially. Paula Newsom's performance, who lacks any sort of charisma whatsoever and the worst part about these characters are the fact that these are bad performances on top of horrible writing. That's not the worst part of the episode though, because the B plot with the fire and melted guns was not even built up, there was basically no investigation, there was no connection to anything going on in the episode anyway and ended rather abruptly, that's why the resolution of the case was so terrible I threw up from disgust. I wish for it to at least be formulaic, but it was just nonsense. But on the positive note, final part of the episode has set up a pretty interesting premise, which I hope will be followed up at least by decent season, of which there are still chances.

It's all done right
jmbwithcats7 October 2021
The first episode of CSI is so good. It's like when Square had to destroy Final Fantasy 14 to recreate it but made it part of the story with A Realm Reborn... it works because it's all in the story. That's how they brought back Jorja Fox and William Peterson with like poetry.

They're Back!!!
indielim@yahoo.com7 October 2021
They're back & it's great to see & hear an awesome storyline, start it off. Brass, Sidle, & Grissom are on top of their game. Roby, Folsom, Lilly, Park, & Hugo bring a fresh new look & feel to the show. There is a strong hint, Hodges will be joining the story. Hopefully we'll see more past members make cameos, but if not the new CSI team will fit quite wonderfully.

I just finished watching every episode of CSI to prepare for CSI: Vegas
dylanbodner12 October 2021
A few months ago my partner and I sat down and started watching CSI from the very beginning, I had fond memories of the earlier seasons my mother had on DVD when I was growing up, and I could remember a few episodes with Lawrence Fishburne I'd seen on TV as they aired, but I had never sat down and watched a show this long before start to finish.

What I'll say is this, there are remarkably few duds until around season 9 or 10, which for a long running show like this is impressive. Particularly in the Danson era, in the shows last few seasons, it's the roughest and most inconsistent--there are still really good episodes, and still really good characters, but some choices, casting, storylines are borderline unforgivable. It became a slog towards the end, and after we finished the last episode we immediately watched the pilot again to compare where the show had started and where it ended up. After that, we watched episode one of CSI: Vegas.

What stands out most is the feeling that Vegas has a story to tell, and it's a story I'm interested in hearing. The stakes of the plot are high, while remaining comfortably believable (for now). The new cast is super strong with good characterization and not too much force-fed expository backstory in the first episode, and Sara and Brass bounce off of them well.

(Super minor plot spoiler that's really just an observation)

They've done a couple plots that feel similar--evidence getting called into question--but this is still a sleek and fresh take on that idea, and I have the feeling that it's going to go in some interesting and different directions.

Overall, I'm super impressed with the commitment to the spirit of the show that the Vegas team has managed to recapture, and I'm super excited to see where things go.

The new crew is horrible
wkin9 October 2021
Without the old characters the series is destined to stay in season one. These new characters lack charisma. Same thing as fbi international, NCIS: Hawaii. Very bad actors...What is happening with this market? I'm disappointed.

Dear CBS,
quockquock7 October 2021
I get it that you're trying, but when I can't understand what people are saying because they are either talking too fast, or because of their accent, I am not going to watch. Also, you had all those great characters from the original who would probably love to come back, why not use them? Also, some of the conclusions and theories this CSI team came up with, were really really out there. Be somewhat realistic.

Only a 4 because the new team can't act
alchemist-8184824 July 2022
Warning: Spoilers
Sidle, Grissom, Brass, Hodges-a reunion made in fan heaven. The new lot can't act, and they're killing this new series stone dead.

Why on earth did the network let the old favourites leave after one season? The four of them are so great as a team-they made this tedious pile of rubbish worth watching.

Paula has less acting ability and charisma than a credenza. The other two are even worse.

The ME is great. But he can't save this badly written, badly acted pile of dross.

Too bad-the show could have been great.
