PLEASE, Rid US of Keen!
blkhwk4124 April 2021
Can't the writers get it through their heads that we DO NOT want to see Keen any longer. The plots are contrived and stupid and boring.

This has RUINED a good series that was framed differently-NOT this crap we viewers are forced to watch.

Either kill off Keen or KILL THE SHOW.

Please make it stop
kristy-pritzl24 April 2021
Warning: Spoilers
Liz is the worst. She is not suddenly this criminal mastermind the show is making her out to be. And now she's also seeing and talking to a ghost? Look I liked Mr. Kaplan's character but she's been gone for several seasons and it should have stayed that way. Liz talks tough but never follows thru when it's needed. She hates Reddington and wants him dead but can't bring herself to actually kill him. She has morals when it seems convenient but then doesn't five minutes later. Please just wrap this season up, end the show, and put everyone out of their misery. At this point, I don't even care who Red really is.

Misère: Misery. Or a hand that will win no tricks.
LodgeDweller24 April 2021
Warning: Spoilers
If you want to continue from where the infinitely superior episode "Anne" left off, skip to the last 5 minutes of the show and prepare to be annoyed.

"Misère" is a lookback at what Liz has been doing the last several episodes. You know, all the stunts she's pulled and been complicit in. Like the Chemical Mary thing, orchestrating the almost plane crash, Dembe being taken by Townsend's torture doctor, the explosive expert being tortured and badly beaten, all those innocent people getting killed last week, we get to see Liz's side of that. You see, it's okay that she was a part of all this, because she feels really bad about some of it! It's okay that she has embarked on this path of destruction because she has remorse for Dembe getting grabbed and her "avatar" killing Chemical Mary! She even vomitted once, see how bad she feels!!

Liz is still totally a good person. She's just upset that Red won't tell her who he really is and goes to great lengths to tell more and more extravagant lies and because he killed Katarina. Those things completely justify her recent actions, Liz can kill a puppy and claim it's because of what Red did and she'd be absolved of any wrong doing. At least that's what the writers seem to believe and want the audience to believe. Katarina murdered, lied, and kept things from Liz as well, but it's okay for mommy to do those things because this show is a bloody wreck. They botched everything with Katarina that led up to this nonsense. I'd be maybe 50% less disgusted if from season 7 onward, the Katarina story didn't suck so bad. It would also help if Liz was ever written as being intelligent enough to pull off this level of crap mostly on her own. Does Liz absorb the intelligence of others at will? Does she have a psychic link that allows her to take others smarts and leave them dumb as dirt while she pulls off these grand schemes and master manipulations? Or do the powers that be think so little of the audience who has faithfully kept watching all these years?

Liz is accompanied in her journey by the untrustworthy Skip, who I expect to betray Liz as soon as Townsend is fed up with her. If Liz could buy him off, what's to stop Townsend from doing the same? Speaking of which, the ever annoying Townsend is as unlikeable, psychotic, and obnoxious around Liz as he is without her around, but don't worry! Liz finds his actions detestable, so her good moral standing is still in check. How awful of mean old Red to force her to work woth such a dangerous psychopath. I know Red is no saint, but he is not an unhinged freak willing slaughter massive amounts of people the way this Townsend lunatic is. Red doesn't enjoy murder. He may enjoy revenge, but not murder for the sake of murder. Townsend relishes in it, but clearly, Townsend is the lesser of the evils.

Agnes has been pawned off on some random French (?) woman Liz barely knows. Liz would rather team up with a cartoony supervillain and a personality-free henchman than be with her kid, not all that surprising. Liz's decisions are guided by a hallucination or maybe a ghost of the long dead, Mr. Kaplan. Liz can't stick to her guns about all of this on her own, she needs reassurance from a figment of her imagination. I always liked Kaplan's character, even when she was at war with Red, but her inclusion here felt odd. Very, very odd. Liz barely had any contact with Kaplan after the fake out death escape plan went awry, but she has all this insight in what Kaplan would do. Sure, that makes sense.

It wasn't bad enough that they had Red fall for the half baked stunts she pulled that led to Marvin being tortured and Red's bank account being drained. It wasn't bad enough to devote an entire episode to hollow attempts at showing Liz is still a good person, she was simply pushed too far. It wasn't enough that this episode showed the intelligent, fiery, force of nature Anne being manipulated by Liz and insta-trusting a woman who she met through a fender bender. Nope, we got one last "screw you, dumb loyal audience" from whoever is calling the shots. In the last maybe 3 minutes, the episode picks up where "Anne" left off. Liz and Anne struggle, Anne falls down and hits her head hard on the pointed end of a coffee table. Glass breaks and blood flows. We're left uncertain about Anne's fate, but it does not look good. Who knows if we'll find out next week, we might be treated to Liz playing bocce ball with Townsend while the taskforce mourns over how much they miss their super awesome friend, Liz and roll their eyes at Red. I don't know what to expect anymore, and that's not being said in a complimentary way. When it's good, it's fantastic. When it bad, it can get quite abysmal.

I don't like giving low ratings to any show, especially not one I have stuck with for nearly eight years. Regardless of the story content, the cast and crew did their jobs so I'm giving it a 5. Story wise- it gets a 2/10. Yes, I'm annoyed about what happened to Anne, but that's not the main problem here. There have been plenty of great supporting and short term characters written out in ways that were impactful, but not rage inducing. It's why this happened that ticks me off, the convenience coupled with the stupidity of it all. Utterly senseless. A freak lightning strike would have been better than this.

I don't know what behind the scenes drama is going on, there are rumors about a pay dispute and that's why MB has been gone. Some people are mad at her and say the writers are doing the best they can given the circumstances, but the writers have been failing the Liz character for a while and this episode isn't winning her any new fans. This was a very aggravating episode to endure. The only happy viewers are the people with the twisted view of Liz being a 100% right super genius and the shipping faction that wanted Anne out of the picture. The fan theories about what this episode would be were better than what it was.

Liz is back! Who cares?
nightsamba24 April 2021
Warning: Spoilers
Elizabeth's absence, and now her return, demonstrates just how irrelevant her presence has become. In this weak and contrived episode we lose any compassion or sympathy you might have had for her character. She clearly becomes responsible for several people, some baddies, as well as innocents, losing their lives. She has become Red, just less interesting. Where's the balance in the story now?

Emotion Less.

Micheal Scott once said - I am dead from inside.

That's what episodes like these do to me. Okay you did a recap fine. Atleast move story in some direction. For over 2 Years now and we are still deciding whether Red is KGB or CIA. Also they have announced Season 9. Oh Lord save us. Just finish this story and move on with our old lovable blacklist script or atleast introduce a new drama angle but end this storyline please.

Elizabeth keen is annoying
chevelllawrence15 December 2021
Warning: Spoilers
I love the show and I am just at season 4 but so far I really dislike Liz. Everyone was ok when Redington came in and started handing them cases and lives were being saved but as soon as things start going south she treats red like a dog and blames him for everything. She actually caused the target on her own back when she went to the embassy claiming to be Masha. She uses red at her convenience because he cares. If she doesn't want red around she should stop asking him for help too. Nobody likes to be used. She is so selfish to let her friends do think she was dead and so desperate to have the world revolve around her. Truth is she wouldn't be anybody without Redington and she wouldn't have even met Tom if not for him.

Elizabeth lost her mind
siminsalaris24 April 2021
Warning: Spoilers
Elizabeth is crazy. She left her daughter with a woman she did not know at all, assuming that she was her mother's friend. (A woman who does not even know who she is and whether she was really her mother or not?) Follows the instructions of a ghost. She accompanies a psychic killer and abuses anyone she loves and trusts to get to Readington.

And anne is really going to die? !!!

And after all that she has done, the task forces want to take Elizabeth's side and all of them go hunting for Redington.

And I want to know how did Elizabeth find out so quickly when Redington did not know Townsend had a sister, and how did she find the place of Dembe's daughter whom she was sure had hidden?

Why all the hatred, she's a fundamental character of the show. We're still yet to find out the true relationship between Reddington and her.

STOP THIS STORYLINE FOR GOD SAKE
kh-alkhateb124 April 2021
The writer is doing his best to make us hate the show, he's insisting on making her looks like the saver of the universe, i just don't get it, this so-called an actress that's playing (Elizabeth) makes me sick once her face shows up at the screen, and I don't know why they're forcing the audience to like her, I mean she's back? Nobody cares, she's making allies? Nobody cares, she's planning? Nobody cares, she's trying to act smart with her 5% skills ? Nobody caaaaares .. STOP THIS STUPID STORYLINE FOR GOD SAKE.

Total lack of empathy with the audience
forla-107-46311926 April 2021
Warning: Spoilers
I consider this episode the worst of the series and I'm sad to write this because I always defended and supported the writers and producers, even in the face of courageous and unusual choices like "The Kazanjian Brothers". But mistakes happen, I guess.

The main problem with "Misère" is not that it's a recap episode, the real issues are that it sacrifices the characters' credibility treating viewers as naive and the total lack of empathy with the audience by killing Anne, who was a new character but already loved by the fans. Plus in a season where viewers (and the show itself) already cried for Dom and Glen (and their actors).

We knew what Liz had done to meet Townsend and work with him.

It was already clear that Liz had lost her mind too, the curiosity was to what extent. Now we know that she's in total nervous breakdown, her bad conscience speaks to her with the features of Mr. Kaplan, she acts in the grip of a desire for knowledge and revenge that cannot coexist.

In Misère they made us realize that everything she has done since Katarina's death was not the plan of a criminal mastermind but the obsessive pursuit of revenge of a weak and delusional woman who needs medical care.

Because of her quest, innocent people died.

That's all she achieved by setting in motion a plan worthy of Wile E. Coyote, while she could have paid a sniper or shot Red by herself to get it over with, without endangering anyone else.

The Blacklist is a lot of things but so far it has never been cheap.

Anne's death was cheap.* We all saw it coming but we didn't have the courage to admit that they would make Liz's character stoop so low.

It is not clear why the writers need us to hate Liz SO much.

I'm sorry for Megan Boone because for many viewers her character has now hit rock bottom, even for those who defended her throughout the seasons. Sure the writers will try hard to rehabilitate her (nervous breakdown, mental manipulation) but there's a limit to everything. Liz, from the sixth season onwards, was already on the Blacklist of many viewers, now she has gone too far.

After this episode, Liz has entered the Olympus of the most hated female characters, right next Skyler White from Breaking Bad. XD

*Maybe she isn't dead but auditions' leaks lead to say otherwise.

Pretty good actually, but Liz character gets too many negative responds
jon-2264324 April 2021
Those who write Liz character are not doing a good job, so it looks unreliable, Liz is the weak chain, it parts it looks like she is not part an integral part of the series but I blame the writers, it seems they don't really know how to integrate her (and her daughter) in the plot, so the result is sloppy.

So, to the production - make the required effort to make this better, or bring new writers, the current result is not good. In the first season the relationship between Red and Liz were the engine of the series and now it's just a neg. Also - why did Red killed her mother in front of her eyes? How long will you keep this "secret"? Till after people will forget all about it? Guys you need to this better, it was in the last few episodes which were really good but this one is just going back again to mediocrity. All the secrets that are kept so long could have been revealed already, so that you can move on to a new plot but you are dragging this too long so it's losing its reliability. Dragging it too much is simply annoying, it's like you have no other story to tell.

The show is about the relationship between Keen and Red!
saarvardi24 April 2021
Warning: Spoilers
The constant dissing and downright hatred towards the character of Elizabeth Keen is really getting on my nerves. I mean, seriously, which show were you watching all these years?

For almost eight seasons, the main storyline followed the relationship between Red and Liz and the many secrets Red keeps from her. THIS is the essence of the show, and the writers have been pretty darn consistent about this from day 1. I, for one, felt that Liz's prolonged absence from the show actually damaged it. For the past nine episodes, it felt as if something was lacking. So I was really glad to have her back and am extremely curious as to where the writers are taking the story.

To sum things up - if you have a problem with Liz, or with Megan Boone who depicts her, you should really be watching a different show. Or better yet, GET A LIFE. This is The Blacklist, not the solo Red Reddington show.

Shame And misery
cjonesas15 February 2022
Warning: Spoilers
Episode 14: A recycled average episode from Liz's perspective, summing up the previous episodes without her being in them. It was average, not really interesting, but surely not the horrifying product that many many reviewers have said explanatorily and expanded with their enormous hatred towards Liz character and even Megan Boone embodying her.

That said, I hugely blame the team of (poor) writers who created and contributed with this mess, in the first place, of mortifying, belittling and crushing Elizabeth Keen and in the process, in another possible plan, the professional future of Megan Boone.

She, quite possibly, would never be the same again and in the privacy of her mind, would always see, remember and feel the needless hatred towards her character in the show.

So glad to see Elizabeth again
vigala-3678125 April 2021
After a long period of absence, finally we see her side. A very important episode, mending some threads and filling a few gaps.

The show is about Liz and Red, and the story really needs her.

Whoever wishes her to be killed would end the journey. (Nobody is forced to continue watching.) I am highly curious how this might develop after Misère.

Get rid of Elizabeth Keen.
sharpes_mistress19 June 2021
The last few episodes without Liz Keen have been great, and I'm not the only person who feels this way, judging by some of the other reviews.

I hope the last scene of the very last episode shows Red, Dembe and Agnes getting on a plane and heading off into the sunset, leaving Liz dying on the tarmac.

Waste of an hour and an episode
Similovesmovies25 April 2021
What a complete waste. Entirely boring and the only thing you get out of it is hating Elizabeth even more. But seriously the episode should have started where it ended...you literally end the episode 2mins after the end of the last episode. Everything else is one of those stupid recap episodes. You could literally not watch it and not miss a thing. From best episode to worst, I hope the writers and producers start paying attention to the ratings and reviews. Has such great possibilities as a show but not with Elizabeth in it, not anymore.

Truly astonishingly bad
jadaley-1739725 April 2021
Warning: Spoilers
I have no idea how they can continue this storyline. It has more than junked the shark: it's jumped the Megalodon.

Elizabeth is now a complete sociopath. She is killing innocent cops, innocent FBI agents and innocent civilians.

She is even betraying Dembe.

Totally unbelievable and unwatchable.
