The anti-woke crowd didn't pay attention.
Little_C29 April 2021
Warning: Spoilers
Because otherwise they would have noticed that the theme of the episode was communication.

-Iggy forgot a patient to tell about professional distance.

-Helen never told her sister how her father treated her, and what it did to her.

-dr Kao never told her hero how revered dr Kapoor was, and the new head communicated completely wrong with the staff

-Max found out that there is a huge problem in honest communication towards the public about medical stuff

-and yes, a white man cowardly and deliberatly miscommunicated the reason why his daughter got shot, accusing poc. Of course a black doctor who worked his ass off to save that girl took offense. And this is the only thing they take away from it.

It's a good episode, so don't believe the whiners.

Still brings tears to my eyes
kenhorowitz29 April 2021
I notice that previous reviewers are all complaining about the "leftward leaning" politics they see in these episodes. I consider myself a centralist in politics and I don't see the issues that the show brings up as things that are not happening in real life.

On the other hand, it is still the relationships between the doctors and their patients that always get me. Without wanting to give any spoilers, when Dr. Sharpe presents an alternative to her patient who wants to travel with his partner, it did bring a tear to my eye to show how caring she (and the other doctors at New Amsterdam) is.

It isn't woke to talk about preying on people's fears
drnikic25 June 2021
Sadly, there are always scum who will take advantage of bad situations - looters in hurricanes, and quack medicine pushers in a pandemic.

This episode was about communication, and how the lack of it can cause a wealth of problems.

Ok, it was a bit "tropish" but still a good episode.

Wow
superfox_88814 October 2021
Warning: Spoilers
This show thrives on issue-of-the-week, and we've seen some pretty ridiculous missions from Max. Free broadband for all of New York? Wow. It's a new low. Next we'll see him finding a genie in a magical lamp to fund his increasingly fancy ideas for saving the world.

Other medical dramas navigated the pandemic believably and seriously. This show is a farce, even more so than seasons 1 and 2.

Showing the problems of the age with sensitivity
mommalmf2 May 2021
There are people who like to tear down shows that speak the truth but I am so glad New Amsterdam is doing it. It's fantastic to have a show with years of cover that will tackle real health care problems to shine a light into the road blocks our country puts on health care.

This show is no longer about medicine
JCCasual29 April 2021
What was once a great show about medicine, is now a bad show about making political statements.

So sad to see a great show fall to the extreme left
jessemusseau29 April 2021
Warning: Spoilers
I've never written a review, but it disgusts me how this show has gone from just liberal to full on far left woke, pc garbage where every person whose not woke are the bad guys. Preaching tolerance while being utterly intolerant and hypocrites. Those who are in that category are gonna give me a thumbs down and I don't care. Maybe the damn writers will read some reviews and go back to what it was without pushing their hate. I'm a centrist and so didnt mind at all that tougher social issues were brought up as I was able to see both sides. Not just one like some ;-). But now you are full blown demonizing anyone that has an issue with the utter hypocrisy of what's been going on in the world. Those that don't agree with rioters burning down businesses, beating and murdering people on the streets. Etc. This was like a warning to white people that are scared to protect their families that if they do their children will die or get seriously hurt. Eye. Roll. When you justify one sides bad misdeeds and completely blow off another persons legitimate concerns it really shows the "real" prejudice being displayed . Saddened the writers/ producers/ whom evers biased one sided agendas have absolutely ruined a truly great show. Happy I no longer am paying $14 a month just so I can watch it, like I had been LOL.

Internet
evans-1547520 December 2021
Have the writers never searched for anything on the internet here in Europe it's just full of scammers fake news and porn sending all the inexperienced oaps into this hellhole seems a recipe for disaster.

Lost in woke
doginthedesert1 May 2021
Used to be one of my favorites, but it gets more woke each week. Might as well just watch CNN.

A huge disappointment again
fnhdrzsv2 May 2021
Warning: Spoilers
Once again this show is a huge disappointment. The absurd political statements it makes with every episode, including this one, are just that...absurd. Previous seasons focused on medicine and character development; while this season has focused on left leaning foolish thinking. The statement about hydroxichloriquine was the tipping point for me.

Should've known better
rlda-3832930 April 2021
I thought , one more week , it can't get any worse. I was wrong. The writers for this show are terminally (woke). Racism, WiFi , next up electric cars for everyone, even the homeless .. A great cast is be wasted on PC cheerleading. Wake up. Look at the reviews , NBC.

Dr. Kapoor was the emotional center if this show.
Racingphan229 April 2021
Warning: Spoilers
Without Kapoor the show is floundering, careening from one weekly leftie talking point to another.

This week the villain is white people scared by rioters. How dare they be frightened by "peaceful" protests that inevitably devolve into violence.

Getting progressively worse
Gabriel441629 May 2022
I have never seen a TV series going through decay like New Amsterdam has.

A full tranformation from an initially decent medical drama into a modern televised version of a Maoist struggle session.

I mean with this episode it all moved on from ridiculous to outrageous and hateful.

I literally can't believe what I'm seeing.

Depressing Episode
nickimcneill29 April 2021
Warning: Spoilers
I love this show and still think it is well done but this was just depressing. Everyone's story lines. Max with Luna. Iggy with his patient that he handles poorly. Kapoor's replacement is terrible. The racists who claim to not be even though they are textbook racists. I like that the show reflects the real world and is diverse and tells real stories that unfortunately some views call too "woke" even though it is really just what real life is but I still want happiness and humor and fun.

Come on man!
vaweber5 October 2023
Warning: Spoilers
This show became the poster child for aaaaaalll the talking points. In this show alone: 1. Internet and Computers given to people to combat people drinking bleach and taking ivermectin. One never happened anywhere. And the other is actually commonly used, cheap and effective(saved my son-in-law's life) 2. Caucasian girl shot accidenally by fathers gun purchased because he was afraid if POC protesting. He blames POC drive-by for the shooting.(so on the nose) This show has become so preachy and over the top. The writers and show runners obviously live in a New York or LA bubble. The say we should not believe disinformation while spewing it. I'm done. My wife can watch this crap to see if Max and Dr. Sharp get together. I no longer care. This is why people stopped watching. This is why Hollywood is losing billions. Just freaking stop!

At least rubber lips is behind a mask
ziggyziggler25 January 2023
One redeeming quality of season 3 is Dr. Lauren Bloom ridiculously swollen rubber lips are behind a mask, so the mannequins weirdness is hidden somewhat. Max running around rogue, acting like the male version of emotionally volatile, tantrumish, yet given the power of an omniscient being. FFS, he solves race crisis, covid social fears, lgbtq issues. It's not realistic at all. Still love Iggy Fromme, but didn't need to see him naked just so NBC could have a well rounded set of punch cards of virtue signaling.

But mostly, got to say, I hope America boycotts rubber lips. I won't watch anything else with rubber lips in a leading role. It's worse than years and years of waif thin models.
