When Howard Hunt's (Woody Harrelson) wife Dorothy (Lena Headey) dies in a plane crash, this final episode enters murky conspiratorial waters regarding the CIA's possible involvement in the assassination of President John F. Kennedy. It's not the first time this idea was alluded to in the series, but because it had so many loose threads, it would have been better not to mention it at all. There was enough scheming and duplicity on the part of the principal characters to veer away from such allegations. While Howard Hunt becomes a veritable basket case over the Watergate break-in and the earlier Ellsberg situation, Gordon Liddy (Justin Theroux) maintains an unusually stoic composure above the fray, even when faced with the prospect of jail time. With a jury trial finding all seven of the Watergate burglars guilty, the story concludes with Hunt's appearance before a Senate investigating committee to finally lay the blame at the hands of President Nixon. The most shocking thing revealed in this episode was when Liddy surreptitiously offered to take care of the 'Hunt problem'. If that ever really occurred, I had never heard of it.

I know, because I was there in my first ever role as a background extra. To spot me you have to be quick, I'm a press photographer as Woody Harrelson makes his way to the Senate hearing, and if you watch the swearing in, that's my bald head directly in front of Harrelson as he takes the oath! A little inside baseball trivia for Harrelson fans - when he filmed this particular scene, he entered the set with no shoes on, he was completely barefoot!
