Life is more complex than we give it credit for
nukhetagar30 May 2021
I must say I disagree with some of the reviews here, which focused on the B plot of this episode (conversations between the two bosses and the two employees who happen to be in a relationship). The B plot was not about putting women down, or straight white men down. It accepts that men generally had more opportunities, but also offers nuances: some of these men may have grabbed their opportunity by the balls, so to speak. It also acknowledges that women's need to be given more opportunities, but gives a cautionary note: when you have your chance, you better be prepared. Don't be so focused on whatever else is going on in your life that you can't see an opportunity when it hits you on the head.

Life is complicated and messy. There is no one answer to where things go right or wrong for you. Hopefully, you'll be able to have your eyes open to the opportunities so that when they come by, you're not in a position to not even realize the opportunity came and went and you were none the wiser. My two cents about the B plot of the episode.

The A plot was phenomenal on my opinion, and had a similar ring to it with the B plot. People thy appear bad or look like a one note character may be much more complex and compassionate than we give them credit for. Also makes you think about the old adage: is it better to stick with the devil you know?

Overall, phenomenal episode that really makes you dig deep and think about the complexities of life, while still being pretty funny.

Finally the Always Sunny Episode
smanregisq18 January 2023
This was the type of episode I would see from the people from Always Sunny! I was pleasantly surprised by the twist in the car when Ian presented an opportunity to Rachel and she still was crying equality. It was great that he still able to recognize he has privilege but showed the irony in her argument. Very well done and my favorite episode besides, A Dark Quiet Death in Season 1.

While the A plot point was very strong and gave Brad (Dani Pudi) the well deserved story centered around him and his internal demons.

This show has a way of making the characters come off as arrogant and annoying and I thought it was really interesting that they acknowledged that without coming off as too meta.

Should be rated higher

I feel like this episode is clearly one of the best so far. We actually see much more depth into Brad as a character whilst in Season 1, he was mainly just the evil marketing guy.

Danny Pudi's acting is phenomenal and you can see every emotion the character is experiences through his micro expressions. You can see him slowly derailing as the episode progresses and he loses more and more control of his environment. I swear, get this man an Emmy. He clearly deserves it.

It is also refreshing to see an adult POC with eating disorders.

The B plot with Ian, Rachel, Poppy and Dana was also really interesting to see. It showed the contrast in Dana and Rachel and foreshadowed how their conflicting interests and ambitions might affect their relationship later on.

Overall, I feel like this episode deserves more praise. It may have contained fewer laughs than some other episodes but it managed to give us great backstory on one of the show's most intriguing characters. The story was wrapped nicely in the end and it left us with a burning wonder of how the character's dynamics will change from here on out.

Many people lost the point
MadokaTomoyo6 November 2021
Rachel assumed that strait white men have been handed everything in life because she lives in a noisey echo chamber. Ian helped her understand that she's been so busy playing the victim that she'd been missing all the opportunities made available to her. This episode is great because it goes against the modern indoctrination that pits women against men, and actually teaches self accountability. I was caught off guard, because most shows in 2021 lean into the "misogyny" and "sexism" so much that it's become a boring, tired trope. 10/10.

should be ranked higher

This episode (and the show as a whole) show the deep inner workings of people. The A plot is wonderfully done- danny pudi's expressions are everything- and the B plot is very thought provoking, exploring rachel's strive for success.

To the people leaving bad reviews because this is "too sitcomy;" did we watch the same episode? And to the people leaving bad reviews because they personally don't like rachel or brad; who actually cares at all in the slightest?

Blah blah blah.

Warning: Spoilers
I am so sick and tired of writers of these shows bringing in their political correct bull.

Straight white guys with more opportunity. Says the moaning Gay lady who's been given more screen time for her boring relationship conversations, just to appese the feelings of the ridiculous people out there.

Just let us have what was a good comedy to get away from the world. If you want the sad boredom of real life, go play outside.

Ugh, less Brad please.
sensley21 May 2021
I love this show, but I hate Brad. There are some characters you just love to hate, but he's not one of them. The less time they spend with him the better. He's a character that should only be shown in small doses, not episode centric.

Breaking Brad

Warning: Spoilers
Brad has been a solid character on the show, but this episode just didn't work for me. This felt too "sitcom-y" when Mythic Quest has tried to do some things differently in the past.
