Cute movie with some little flaws
Jackbv12327 February 2022
An aspiring singer and songwriter hopes to get inspiration from his idol. Instead it's the idol's daughter he connects with. Lanie McAuley and Sebastian Pigott do connect.

This movie is fun if you have an interest in the process of writing a song. The singers are not earth shaking, but they are OK. The songs are obviously poetry set to music rather than catchy melodies that stick in your head.

This might be one of McAuley's first leading roles at least in a romance. It seemed to me that she was working to deliver her lines. Many of them were clipped.

Martin Cummins is natural as Hank the musical idol.

There is a very nice exchange between Bonnie and her dad on the patio. I had to back it up and watch it again.

This movie has a nice beginning, middle and a strong finish.

Sound recordist could have done better

Between several of the actors and the recording, much dialog is difficult to follow. The storyline survives, but it puts an unnecessary burden on the casual viewer.

An easy watch
linda-plant217 January 2024
A nice inoffensive storyline - without the fake snow, endless fairy lights and fake flowers, although the ditzy twee cake shop is used yet again - at least it wasn't a "bookstore"! (note to scriptwriters, what about antiques/music/hair salon/shoes/ , would make a nice change !).

The two leads were gently matched BUT if Sebastian is a real life singer, then he seriously needs to brush up on his skills, because on this TV performance his voice needed more work. Marty Cummins was a good addition to the cast and brought professionalism to the story. Otherwise the fabulous location added to the easy watch.

The Song remains the same

'The song remains the same

The Song To My Heart 2022 - Paula Elle.

Tall good-looking musician with chronic writers block meets beautiful owner of Tea-centric cafe with a killer smile and prodigious lyric writing chops! Excluding the irksome 'temporary estrangement trope', the hearts of our two telegenic songbirds harmonize mellifluously to make some beautiful musical together. Often far too cutesy for its own good, the 'crisis' was embarassingly 1st world, and the maddeningly smiley, serially sandal wearing rock n roll pop needed to get his grump on. Frankly, It's all a tad 'cheesy listening', yet the leads are likable enough and any film whereby the sight of an oversized strawberry arouses paroxysms of pleasure can't be all bad!

A feel good, well presented movie

I had a day of from work on a rainy British, autumn day and put this on to chill with over a cup of coffee. Having seen Martin Cummins before, I thought it worth a watch. I was very pleasantly surprised, two likeable leads with good chemistry and some pleasant, easy listening, if not taxing, songs. I hadn't seen the two leads before and it was lovely to see fresh faces and an old storyline given some injection of pep.

The support cast was excellent and the dialogue flowed well,, the shop and waterfront was delightful and it seemed devoid of the fake plastic flowers usually prolific in these movies.

Let's see more of this style and certainly more of these two leads.
