Real World, Netflix style.
blondelobster1711 December 2021
It's basically the same deal as the Real World except there's 2 houses side by side. 4 girls live in one, 4 boys in the other. Everyone is pretty, everyone has issues, everyone wants to hook up. Nothin new to see here.

Having said that, they are all fairly like-able and if you are down with real world reboot then this is for you.

I don't understand some comments by reviewers
sbwotoronto27 March 2022
Warning: Spoilers
People complain the people are "boring" or they are "entitled".

Most people talk about shows with too much drama and people having issues and "reality shows" are so staged. You get a shows like this and now people complain there isn't enough drama. Can't please everyone. Most of the people on the show are looking to better their life. There are some situations between the cast and not all succeed.

Entitled? How are these people entitled if they have no job and came to Austin to get a job or opportunity?

It is different and in a way refreshing. Because of so many shows out there, people will find this "boring" but I find it more relatable. It is "normal" people looking to make it.

If you want drama and over the top stories, this show isn't for you.

The show is alright. You are watching people trying a new city to see if they can make it there.

MTV did it better
ashleyedington14 December 2021
Boring. Horrible casting. Boring people. The people aren't engaging or entertaining. MTV did it better clearly. They knew how to cast and put them in better living situations. Two different houses makes no sense.

Refreshing
jhostletler19 December 2021
I genuinely enjoyed TwentySomethings:Austin. It's clearly Netflix's take on The Real World but without the fighting, excessive partying, drunken shenanigans etc. While that kind of drama is entertaining and has made reality TV what it is, it was refreshing to watch a reality show that didn't have you walk away feeling embarrassed for our generation or shaking your head.

I did feel there were parts missing from some of the storylines and some scenes were cut short.

I do hope Netflix renews the series and just makes a few adjustments.

It's one of those shows you watch when there's nothing else to watch
Meeka_Meek20 January 2022
Warning: Spoilers
I'm half way through the show and I'm realizing that none of the cast members are remotely interesting. There's also a ton of fakeness about this show and the shows entirety seems very insecure, very minimal drama (which is the opposite reason of why me an many other people watch reality TV). At least they rounded up enough attractive people for me to see where this goes..

Loving the energy
melodyso11 December 2021
I love that it's very positive. No petty drama. People seem mature. The storylines are realistic. People are generally likable. It's such a delight to watch and follow them figuring out their 20s. Their lives are exciting and everyone gets enough spotlight. All in all great show!

The Austin migration has been a disaster for Texas
ironicman-5070213 December 2021
Goodbye Texas. I really hate how this show is promoted as a "move to Austin" billboard. In reality, many struggle with housing prices being inflated by the influx of wealthy Californians who will enact the same policies that caused them to move. Politics aside, I also couldn't stand 20 minutes of the first episode. If this is how people my age act then Idiocracy was a prophecy.

I could write a show at this point.
PTJohnny13 December 2021
I tried watching and got sick of people saying "vibe" every other word. Also great job of hiding cameras in every shot, definitely not obvious. The main saving grace are Natalie and Raquel, they seem okay.

I really don't appreciate the urge to move to Austin. Our infrastructure is too small to grow this much in so little time. On top of the traffic jams this boom caused there is also the inflation of housing market leading to gentrification and homelessness. Maybe it wouldn't be so bad if people like these characters weren't moving in droves.

A simple kind of life which I find refreshing!
jenjen-7902220 December 2021
Warning: Spoilers
After reading most of the reviews I was sadly disappointed. The sad truth is people love drama and sex sells. Sorry but this show does not fall into either category!! As a child of Chaos myself, I was pleasantly surprised to have been spared the drama of disfunctional, overly intoxicated, immature, unscrupulous imbeciles! The cast are all real life 20-somethings just trying new experiences and living their best lifes! There was only one person who irked me; of course it was Abby! But what I respect about her is her honesty. She was aware of her character defects if you will, and choose to do something about it! She apologized when she felt she did something wrong , most importantly she owned it! That right there speaks volumes about her and her morals and values, you grow girl !!!!! And my favorite couple... Michael and Isha ! So sweet those 2 and I loved their ability to communicate! I see these 2 going far. And Adam was an absolute dream! If I was 20 years younger, he would of been in trouble !!!! All in all I enjoyed the show and would love to see a reunion !!! Good luck and nothing but love to my new fave gay man, Kiki!!! He would of been my bestie for sure. Wishing him and Natalie good luck and congrats on their new place. Definitely one of my new favorite bingewatching series !!!

Not good
brianlizardking12 December 2021
Too much similar personalities, not enough diversity. Got tired of watching the same people for an hour Very obvious cameras in some of the shots. Will likely contribute to the inflation of the housing market in Austin.

Interesting
RosesAreLilac1 January 2022
Loved the LGBTQ representation and how positive all the relationships were framed. It could have easily gone off the rails but there are too many garbage tv shows like that. It was what you would expect from 8 young adults living together and navigating life. Abby was a little annoying but it looked like she worked through some of her issues. I thought it was cute and sweet to see how their friendships and journeys evolved. I binged it because it's not your typical reality tv show. I hope they do this in other cities in the future.

Boring, Repetitive, Plain
dymeksr13 December 2021
It's a chill show but that's about all it has going for it. The actors/characters are bland and uninteresting. The plot goes nowhere fast. I wouldn't waste your time on this pointless reality show. I'm kind of saddened that this is trending.

I want my braincells back
rageagainsthemachinehead13 December 2021
This show is a clear rip off of real world except a tone deaf version. Maybe I'm repetitive but the mass migration of wealthy Gen Z and Millennials from other states to Texas is a factor in the gradual decline of our housing market. Nothing is real about this show, obviously. I just really dislike the idea that Austin is presented as a bustling city for Californians to come and enact the same policies that caused them to migrate.

Also, no wonder we are estimated to have a decline in population if this is the dating pool for young men and women. God help us all.

Rated it high cause I somehow wanna see it succeed.
emacello15 December 2021
But yea, I wouldn't put it on my top 10 best shows list.

To be entirely honest, this show touched me in some weird way, and the reason I rated it a 10 was cause I ended up living through everything with these guys.

And the guys are some amazing young people - sure, a bit immature and impulsive, but isn't that what the 20s are for?

Overall, I would like to see this show progress and would recommend.

Watch Austin be destroyed by the same people who destroyed San Francisco
aarpcats12 December 2021
The Little Town on the River and the GOP want to be the next Silicon Valley. They bring with the growth trustafarians who live Kardashian like lifestyles without jobs, tech money, and hard pressed jobless kids from the Rust Belt. The wealthy people screw up the real estate, and the rest try to get by on McJobs.

And then there's the homeless encampments.

The unprepared city lacks the infrastructure to handle all the new "hipper than thou" crowd and everyone sits in a traffic jam. Real estate costs skyrocket, but the night life goes on.

The only people who like living there are people who think it's cheaper than California.

Meanwhile, it's one more lifestyle porn show.

Relatable show that skips the drama
theresehudgins8 January 2022
After watching countless reality TV shows that only cast for shock value, drama, fighting, trashy hookups and excessive drunkenness, this show is really refreshing. The cast are all endearing and likable people just living their lives as all of us do. The stories are really relatable and I enjoyed watching the cool spots in Austin. At times the show is sweet, cringy, weird and wholesome. Those are all things that I'm going through as a woman living in Austin in my 20s. If you like trashy reality TV then you'll probably find this show a little boring but if you like to see real people trying to find themselves then you'll find this show interesting.

Skip, don't stream
krtv-1267813 December 2021
I found the first episode unbearably boring and plain. Here's a bunch of twenty year olds with the same personality placed in the the same location. A quick nitpick, maybe I'm getting old but I really dislike the way these people talk. This series promotes hookup culture and is tone deaf to the realities of many living in Austin, Texas.

Bye, Austin!
jaswards13 December 2021
So long, Austin. What was once a really cool city to live is currently going to trash. Coming soon to the rest of the USA. These poor kids have no idea. I don't blame them. Sad.

Great drama free show! Please watch before deciding off of negative reviews.
sexybad-267976 January 2022
What i really liked about this show is the fact that it has no drama, no fighting, no hyping up, no nothing! It has a very positive vibe to it. It's very refreshing, it's nothing like the other reality shows where there is drama 24/7. They took 8 people put them in houses next door (i think one house would've been better) and they lived like normal people, doing what normal people do; talk through something if there's a problem and be excited about a new adventure.

I watched the entire season, I'm hoping there is a season 2 (it would've been nice to have another season with the same people but the way it ended it looked like goodbye so I'm guessing if there is a season 2 it will have another set of 20somethings, hopefully this time everyone is put in the same house). I feel like all the reviews I've read that are 5 stars and under are people who like cursing, fighting and unnecessary drama but to each his own.

I loved all of them. I don't know about abbie.

This group of people are just interesting at all! Boring show with nothing exciting ever going on. Everyone seems to themselves because they know their on t.v.. Just a fake and bland show overall. Fire the producers for wasting money on this.

Great Show!
dreastar15612 December 2021
I honestly believe that everyone should move to Austin when they're Twentysomething. I moved to Austin when I was 23 and lived there until I was 26. It's honestly the most liberal city in Texas! Every single female that they picked are just too adorable and effervescent! Thank you for making s reality television show in my state capital!

Low-Budget Love Island
jeliciayoworld3 January 2022
Tried to watch the first episode and quit. The houses and the rooms are so tacky, so the cast gushing over these was a huge "ehh??". The cast is also cringe af.

Not the worst but certainly not good
danielspete-6921814 December 2021
Pros: good representation of LGBT people. Explore neat locations in Austin. Keanu, Kamari and Natalie are the best cast in my opinion.

Cons: Pretty boring for the first two episodes due to lack of varying personalities. Anti conservative agenda and some body shaming rubbed me a bit wrong. Too much emphasis on Austin being a bustling young city which will eventually cause housing inflation and more infrastructure issues.

Real and authentic human experiences
sharizaabdoelhak2 March 2023
This show offers such refreshing perspectives on what young and open-minded people would experience when grouped together like that. It's people from all walks of life, and I support that wholeheartedly. So many shows focus on just a sliver of the human experience when young - from a one-sided and specific demographic as if that represents what life and love is for the majority of the world. No - most people are from different backgrounds, come from different political and social environments and have different outlooks on love, sex and life in general, and I feel this show really covered that. Love the LGBTQ representation, love the focus on friendship regardless of background, race and class. Love the open-mindedness on intimacy and casual dating. Really recommend watching!

Where's the logic in leaving your state to ruin Texas?
lionelcruz-9944116 December 2021
I was put off by the liberal agenda, specifically Isha admitting she's a hardcore liberal who has never left California. LGBTQ people are fine in my book and I like Keanu's story however these people fail to acknowledge the lack of regulations in Texas are what make this state so great. Texas is best suited as a libertarian government but these people promote Austin as a liberal haven. What many fail to understand is that those same policies in California are what cause the mass migration to Austin.
