Bloodless Pit
hellraiser718 April 2022
This is one of my favorite "RiffTrax" episodes. The film looks almost like a lost "Hershel Gordon Lewis" movie, it has just about all the ingredients for one from low budget, red credit sequences, strange music, bad acting and actors, sleaze; except for one vital ingredient and that is gore which is almost nonexistent in the film, there are a few blood effects but their lame which makes the title of the film misleading and false advertising. It's like having a stale cake, where it looks good but once you take a bite it tastes like paper. But thankfully the "RiffTrax" boys make you a proper cake that is edible to eat.

There are a lot of memorable riffs and moments, from riffing on the costume the main villain wears which is hard to take seriously as he really does look like Robin from "Batman 66" just without a shirt, I get he's supposed to be the Crimson Executioner but they could make the costume look more menacing.

One of the highlights is the deathtrap bed which is the slowest death trap ever, even "Batman 66" and "Macgyver" could get out of this trap in their sleep. It's funny how they riff on how long that trap goes down and what anyone can doing during this time. But also love the "Macgyver" reference they made which cracked me up as I'm a fan of that series (original version).

Another is one of the fight scenes near the end which is one of the worst fight scenes ever up there with the one on one scuffle in the "MST3K" and "Rifftrax" episode "Hobgoblins". The choreography is bad as both opponents use the same moves practically repeatedly in places, there are also some moments where there are opportunities to be seized for something interesting in the fight to happen or even an interesting death, but nope doesn't happen. It's funny how they riff on how bad this fight is and those missed opportunities.

This "Rifftrax" entry is a bloody good time.

Rating: 4 stars.
