Best episode of the series
mhorg20184 March 2022
It's too bad they didn't get Karl Urban too do Billy's voice. If they had, this would be a 10. Great revenge epic and the only episode that feels like it came from the comic or the series. Having Simon Pegg do Hughie's voice was a huge plus.

An entertaining canonical story (for the comics)
I'm Your Pusher is what happens when you decide to bring an anthology series to its square-one aesthetic routes. This episode feels like The Boys whilst evoking that superhero cartoon feel from Invincible and even Young Justice. This is anthology TV going to all the creative places it can go in eight short episodes.

Sure this episode's a tad too short for all its showing off regarding it being an in-universe continuation of the comic books, but for the time we have it's absolutely worth it. Though Jason Isaacs as Butcher instead of Karl Urban definitely takes some time getting used to. They still had Antony Starr as Homelander so it was an interesting choice recasting Butcher for this one short alone. Though Simon Pegg as Hughie brought the comics' reference full circle rather nicely.

The Boys Presents: Diabolical is creative TV, and though it's definitely not for everyone, I'm all for this anthology animated series format. It encourages creativity and reinvention in ways live-action simply cannot do some of the time.

This episode is definitely one of this series' strongest.

Straight up The Boys, little to fault here
RogerBorg5 March 2022
What we're given here is a straight presentation of the original source material, written by the comic author Garth Ennis.

The plot is basic but solidly written, and the animation is straight heroic adult anime, no complaints there. Score and pacing are both fine, it's a very competent production.

Unfortunately, they couldn't get Karl Urban to voice Billy Butcher. Sure, he made a hot Shatnerian mess of it in the live action, but it was such a distinctive and enjoyably eclectic performance that Jason Isaacs can't come close to it here, and it's rather jarring.

Queen Maeve's presentation is also slightly divergent from the live action. She's blonde, has tired age lines, and while Dominique McElligott voices her, she gives it a much more openly weary performance. It's fine, it works well, it's just different.

So while this would have been near flawless as a standalone episode, in the context of characters that we already know, it's slightly dissonant.

Still a solid, enjoyable little ride, well worth the time.

Garth Ennis returns!
comegurglinrhino4 March 2022
Garth Ennis comes back to the world he created for a gory short set in his comic universe. It's great seeing the characters from the comics animated, including a clean-shaven Butcher and a Hughie that looks like and is voice acted by Simon Pegg.

We get cameos from other characters that some might recognize as well, while Ennis weaves a disturbing tale that feels like a cut issue from the series. A gruesome, yet very Ennis-Esque ending closes the short out perfectly, making me hope if they do more seasons of Diabolical, Ennis comes back and writes more.

Michael Cera also did a great job voicing Great Wide Wonder, and while I did love Simon Pegg as Hughie, be warned it is more of a cameo than anything, hence why I hope we get more of this style some day. Check this episode out if you love The Boys comics as much as I do.

Invincible vibes right here
AlejandroDiazGomez5 March 2022
Warning: Spoilers
I'm really sad to can't see what's the future of this episode, and still don't understand why Simon Pegg it's Hughie in The same universe where Jack Quaid already was. But i enjoy it so much this episode, Michael Cera do a incredible voice performance, his adrenaline screams plus the animation fits perfect with the scene. I still thinking that this episode try to reminder the vibe what was Invincible. I know, looks better and I thing the season 2 of Invincible would look better, mostly like this episode. Another thing that could make me thing that this episode it's not canon it's that Queen Maeve can FLY, so... this is the future?! The past?! Or maybe another universe I guess.

Simple, Quick and Fun!

An episode I believe many fans we're looking forward to and it did not disappoint.

Amazon Prime is in need of some more 'the boys' content and I would definitely like to see more episodes featuring the comic book version characters.

This episode shows the real horror of having all powerful human beings with next to nothing morals, while also showing what brave regular people can achieve.

Compromised pusher
TheTruthofItIs26 March 2022
"The Pusher" was the first of these "Diabolical" eps that I felt was worthy. It was a good, self-contained tale of the supes' drug pusher, how he got compromised, and the catastrophic consequences. Still alot of cartoon gore but mainly limited to one scene.

Really great episode and makes me wish they would turn this into a full animated series that more faithfully adapts the comics with this same cast and Garth Ennis involved.

With blood on his hands.
Pjtaylor-96-1380445 April 2022
'I'm your Pusher (2022)' is the closest thing so far to a direct adaptation of the graphic novel on which 'The Boys (2019 -)' is based. It clearly takes place in an alternate continuity to the show itself, featuring slightly different incarnations of the characters and a visual style that closely resembles the aforementioned comic. It focuses on a drug dealer who finds himself on the wrong end of Billy Butcher's special set of skills. It's a simple but effective story that essentially plays out in just two or three scenes. There's a fairly strong sense of atmosphere and a difficult-to-describe underlying tension that builds as the piece moves towards its explosive finale. The animation is detailed, relatively realistic and typically satisfying. The gore effects, in particular, are really effective; they actually make you squirm in your seat slightly. The voice acting is also solid, with performances from Kieran Culkin, Michael Cera, Anthony Starr, Jason Isaacs and Simon Pegg (who was originally slated to play Hughie in live-action back when 'The Boys (2019 -)' was first proposed). The short has a slightly cruel streak that fits the sociopathic anti-supe anti-hero at its heart without overdoing it or feeling particularly forced. It's an really entertaining short overall. 7/10.

Story by Garth Ennis - is there more to say. Watch it!
Shadowboy_25cm10 March 2022
A good episode written by Garth Ennis.

There is nothing more to say and I won't spoiler anything.

Dark humor as you know it by Ennis.

Some original cast members from the The Bost tv show give their voices to their characters, they play.

And finally, Simon Pegg plays Huggie, as it was originally intended.

Highly recommended for all The Boys fans.

Now THIS is The Boys
fatbloke515011 March 2022
This is what fans of the comic have been waiting for. A more authentic version than the toned-down rubbish that is the live action series. Can we have a full series of this instead, please?

Enema at the Gates

Now, I have read "The Boys" from start to finish, so this episode was particularly up my street, inspired as it was by both the art style and the tone of those books.

Butcher (Jason Isaacs) calls in on OD (Kieran Culkin), drug dealer to the superheroes and threatens to kill him unless he spikes the drugs of Great Wide Wonder (Michael Cera), a high-profile hero but not one of the seven. OD reluctantly complies, but nobody could have predicted just how horrific the outcome of their actions turns out to be.

Interesting mix of voice actors for this one. Simon Pegg finally gets to play Hughie, the character he inspired. Jason Isaacs gets to play Butcher, in a performance that is much nearer to the voice that I heard reading the comics all those years ago, than Karl Urban's (not that I dislike Urban's performance, but a convincing English accent, it is not). Anthony Starr and Dominique McElligott reprise their roles as Homelander and Queen Maeve though.

The real selling point though is that animation style made to directly mirror the original look of "The Boys" graphic novels and is a story written by Garth Ennis himself. It's apparently supposed to be taking and canonically happening in the comics universe (pretty early in it, based on context) but it's a fairly short, standalone addition, as typically gory, violent and course as you might expect. Definitely entertaining though and a good addition to this series.

The Boys, but if it stuck to the comic.
Kobayoyee17 July 2022
While the comic is absolute garbage, this episode was actually good. The art looked almost like invincible, but that's not to say it was bad. The episode felt really quick, though. I honestly wanted to see more, but i knew it probably would've gone too far.

Warning: Spoilers
This Episode begins with O. D, he is waking up after a rough night of partying. Butcher visits O. D. O. D wants to kill Butcher, but he failed. O. D has to deal drugs for Butcher. Homelander gives a speech for a full crowd. Great Wide Wonder is high and joins Homelander on stage. Great Wide Wonder is really tripping out while he is flying around. Great Wide Wonder goes right into Ironcast his belly. Ironcast died. Great Wide Wonder died. Nice Episode of The Boys Presents: Diabolical Season 1, such a weird miniseries. Simon Pegg becomes Hughie Campbell in the Boys Diabolical.
lilsilver-3531212 October 2023
I really hope for to really see Simon Pegg becomes Hughie in the Boys Diabolical season 2.

I'm happy that Simon Pegg Finally Gets Plays Hughie Campbell, who is based on Simon Pegg in the comics, visually.

Simon Pegg shows a real Hughie Campbell moment in the animated anthology series The Boys Presents: Diabolical!

This is the REAL and FAVOURITE BEST Hughie Campbell version! I really enjoyed Simon Pegg finally plays Hughie Campbell.

I really hope for to really see Simon Pegg becomes Hugh "Hughie" Campbell in the Boys Diabolical season 2.

In the comics, Homelander caused people's ears to bleed by screaming. I hope for to see Homelander's supersonic scream!
