I was so hopefull...
rayahermans21 January 2022
That The Blacklist would stay away from the woke...

Alas, systemic racism, institutional evil, fake martyrs, ... it all passes the review... even "our people built this country" was thrown into the mix ? How and when did this happen ?

Anyway, hope this stops or TB could become the next series down the drain.

Not bad but a bit on the nose in parts
pjdickinson-2782227 January 2022
Not a bad episode by any means considering some of the recent clunkers but the BLM stuff was a bit like being assaulted with a very blunt instrument in an unnecessary way. Many names are dropped and it's very on the nose. Despite the pitifully clumsy nature it does serve a purpose to the overall story in other ways. I do question one element of it, though which some people may only spot on a second viewing. Why, after the third act, has the dialogue been speeded up? Its quite jarring.

Ellie. 7 going on 16
luttilutter26 April 2022
Anyone else bothered that Ellie looked like a teenager? Isn't she meant to be 7 or 8? First seen in S3E1 in 2015 as a baby. Even if we account for a few time jumps (Agnes is also clearly not 6 or 7) why does she look like 15 or 16? And what 16 year old gets stories read to them by their mum? Sorry but totally threw me off.

Dembe
EirinngoBrach27 April 2023
Warning: Spoilers
Who would have known, Dembe Zumas daughter, Isabella Zuma, would turn out to be such a racist? Why do these Blacklist writers feel the need to push their false narrative and fake woke agenda? The Blacklist is unrecognizable now. A shell of its original six seasons. I'm just mad I gave this show so much of my time. I wondered why this episode received such a poor rating and now it's painfully obvious. James Spader is so much better than this show. I'm surprised more actors aren't jumping ship. Especially the Non-white actors. Why would they want to be a part of a show that obviously does not respect them and only portrays them as racist?

I'm sure the IMDB police will block my review. I will just have to tweet it.

Decent episode but the writing was a little lazy
ewhite-2201725 January 2022
This episode was better than other recent episodes this season. At least they had an Opponent to attack and a story line that kept me tuned in. You get some good background on Red and Dembe after Liz gets killed. They seem to keep going back to Coopers problem sporadically without much detail. I am assuming that is going to come to a head in the last couple of episodes. The writers also get a little lazy with the anti cop rhetoric that has absolutely nothing to do with being an international criminal but that's to be expected. Al in all I give it a 7 which is pretty good because this season has been lacking substance for the most part leading up to this episode. They need more action like they had in the first few seasons.

[6.7] Enough melodrama!
cjonesas20 February 2022
Warning: Spoilers
Episode 9:Not a bright episode, overall OK with few actions, lots of real world messages! (not good for The Blacklist or any other fiction), a generic villain, some unrealistic situations and good performances from Dembe and Raymond.

Dembe's tears felt and seemed very real. The guy can show emotion and we saw many from him in this season. Good job.

Hope, it muscles up for next episodes cause I think we've seen enough drama and melodrama already.

Oh the irony
jmbontour-127 September 2022
Always good to get some more back story and history given the supposed time since previous events transpired, particularly on a great character like Dembe. However the best thing is reading the reviews complaining about the so called political bias. All those complaining that the introduction of a discussion on the position of black people in American institutions have, more than they could ever think of saying, proved that it's a valid and necessary discussion. Obviously it also fills out the inner life of a much admired character. But then those people with those opinions won't have the wit to see that.

Dembe Focused Episode!
shelbythuylinh22 January 2022
Warning: Spoilers
Fallout over Liz's death lead Red's former bodyguard and confidante Dembe to make a big and at times unpopular change in particular of his own daughter that rants out names like George Floyd, Brianna Taylor, just to name a few.

But despite his daughter's protest he realizes he needs to make a change and even Harold is very proud of the decision there.

But something happens and that of his family's lives are in danger. He goes to the one man that he feels may not want to see him again due to "betraying" their partnership...Red Reddington of course.

Dembe is not in the spotlight enough.

so tired of it all
cheddavis-855035 March 2022
Spader is a legendary actor. Tawfiq has become amazing at his craft. But I am so tired of the political influences that throw fire on a divide that needs to be mended, not widened further. There is good and bad in all of life, and people should not capitalize misfortunes for either personal or political gain.

Interesting Episode
Hitchcoc14 December 2022
For those of you that missed it, this episode had to do with a man who became driven by the death of his son and the man who killed him. There are, of course, gray areas here or Dembe would be a monster. The daughter is a realistic character, a character who is black and has every right to speak her mind. Her father looks beyond that, but the tiresome reviewers are so stuck in their racism, they don't realize that there are several character of color who carry on. This isn't preachy; it is merely reflecting a reality that exists today. These people have threatened not to watch the show because TV shows are for "entertainment." But to them, entertainment is only when it follows your belief system. In watching every episode to date, I've seen very little in the way of preachiness. I again suggest that you get yourself a copy of "Birth of a Nation," some popcorn, and have a nice evening.

Another great series being ruined by WOKE !!!
mark-9820015 July 2022
Why oh why does every single series have to force feed us this lefty woke BLM nonsense , it's boring and pathetic , are the writers under contract to include the " woe is me I'm a black person " in every story live , it's getting beyond a joke and needs to stop before there's nothing left to watch !!!!

Terrific Episode
Franknsense21 January 2022
So far I've been enjoying, to varying degrees, most episodes this season. In general, though, the season has seemed to be stumbling while attempting to regain its footing. With this episode it feels as if it now has reached solid ground and is ready to confidently move forward. A new mystery has begun, and all key players are on the same side to find the answer...thankfully!

I am now excited for the second half of season nine of The Blacklist! Too bad we have to wait until after the Olympics to see where this new mystery leads Raymond and the task force.

We finally have an actual enemy!!! Red and Dembe shakes hand like a good boy!!!
tanzimkh22 January 2022
Warning: Spoilers
This episode was very much focused on Dembe; how the events occurred after the death of Elizabeth, how Dembe had to oversee Red's criminal empire and what made him join the FBI. This was a much needed episode for 2 reasons; 1) For the story building perspective, 2) To overcome the distance and misunderstanding between Red & Dembe.

We now finally know that, Dembe did not lead the Townsends near Elizabeth and that he was not partially responsible for her death. It is safe to assume that someone from the inside passed the information. Overall this was a perfect back to back episode. This is what we love about the Blacklist, we can not fully assume what is going to happen.

I wonder if Red is planning to groom his(her) grand daughter; god knows well and the excitement for the future episodes is immersive.

Very poor. Preachy and boring.
mcareford25 September 2022
Series continues to decline. Preachy and continuing that vein that US programmes seem to be taking of simply having to address "issues". Some terrible lines in this particular episode that encourage division.

These are very US centric issues that just irritate international audiences.

Getting to a point where US shows are getting unwatchable and is a noticeable trend of late.

See if they consider this preachiness when the audience deserts them... it simply doesn't even make commercial sense to actively lose your audience so on all levels it is simply bizarre.

Shame. Red needs his own series and keep it an ENTERTAINMENT show....

Confused?
neverenoughgold23 January 2022
Well it was nice to have some holes filled regarding the Dembe - Red split, but I believe more holes were drilled than filled.

Stay tuned, there is more to come from the team...

Fake Woke
crafty-747053 March 2022
People in my opinion , watch TV or movies for escape. I used to watch stuff where has a message about social justice. If the writing is good and it's well done you can like it if it's not heavy handed. At least that's my experience. Even stuff I didn't agree with. This Fake Woke stuff us pushed on you in this episode. It's despicable that you can't just watch a good story. There may be themes you don't agree with, but as I said if the writing is adequate and a story develops naturally. This randomly dropped Breonna Taylor and George Floyd's name et cetera. It was pointless and pushed. In life I am sensitive to these issues presented and agree with some not others. I do not want it pushed and out of place in TV shows and movies. It's pathetic that a show about a criminal and the FBI gives an anti police message. Especially with this many seasons.

amazing
mainvally9 February 2022
I enjoyed this episode and figured out many puzzles in it, probably more than any previous episodes. It had to be informative. I guess the writer of this great thriller television series may have begun to unfold the ten year old mystery. Enjoy...

I officially resign
I've stuck by this show since the start and James Spader is still superb. However every week it lumbers from one mistake to the next. Now a known criminal associate is in the FBI despite being a grandfather, at what 50/60 +

Suspending belief for a show is sometimes necessary but this show has pushed my patience too far.
