A great beginning to an amazing horror anthology series!

Warning: Spoilers
When I first watched this episode, The Haunting Hour was just starting out on television and I was expecting it to be full of modern crud, like crude humor and lazy kids texting on their cellular phones throughout the whole episode. Well, I was definitely surprised by this show! It actually has good values for kids, is genuinely creepy without overdoing it and it has the nostalgia of shows like Goosebumps and Are You Afraid of the Dark? Why The Haunting Hour was cancelled by the network I'll never understand, because it was one of the few good shows left on television.

'Really You' is a two-part episode featuring a spoiled brat of a child whose father buys her whatever she wants because he loves her and doesn't like seeing her unhappy. Lilly isn't really a bad kid, but she's spoiled rotten and her older brother Brandon is constantly concerned for his dysfunctional family. One day Lilly's well-meaning dad buys her a custom-deluxe, life-sized doll from the trendy new Really You toy company, and the doll, named "Lilly D", looks exactly like Lilly. Unfortunately, the new doll does nothing to improve her attitude. Immediately she shows off to other kids, including her friends, bragging about Lilly D to them and finally driving one of them to say something mean to her - and in return Lilly rips the leg off of her best friend's doll - and Lilly has Lilly D taken from her by her mom, who is more than a little sick of Lilly's bad behavior. The problem is, Lilly D wants Lilly's mom all to herself, even if it means wreaking havoc on the family and getting Lilly sent away.

This episode was excellent! The acting especially, Bailee Madison was great in the role of Lilly (but I hope she doesn't act the way Lilly does in real-life!). Connor Price was great and Casey Dubois, who played Brandon's best friend Josh (a comic relief character), was hilarious and really good at the role. I think my favorite actor though was Gabrielle Rose, who doesn't have much of a role until part 2 of the episode but was amazing as the senile old Dollmaker lady.

The soundtrack was wonderful, I wish The Haunting Hour soundtrack was available on CD or something because it's definitely great! It really reminded me of Goosebumps, but it's also got it's own originality that makes it stand out.

All in all, this episode is a great way to start off The Haunting Hour series, with a creepy doll, unique characters and an entertaining plot! And I'm eighteen, probably not the target audience, but I loved this show all the same, my little brother and sister love it too and we always watch the reruns on youtube whenever they're available! This is one show that needs to be around as long as possible because television is degrading to tasteless crude humor shows and bad reality TV, and The Haunting Hour is a light in the dark despite its eerie plots. This show is excellent, I hope other kid's shows follow in its footsteps.

Is it the acting or the direction? ditto for Part 2

I understand that this is supposed to be a spooky series, but the idea of having a life sized doll instantly comes off very morbid. Bailee's acting or direction is very poor. The only skill that I see in acting is from Connor Price, who plays the brother. All the other actors seem like they were just brought in and in first rehearsal. Is it the direction? The over all plot should work, but the opening scene is terribly done. The Twilight Zone's Living Doll was a great story and was very well done.
