Outstanding storytelling and acting
rmmil2 May 2022
I don't often give out 10's, this episode of Barry is a "10", I could simply find no fault with it.

The look on Bill Hader's face? It should be shown in acting schools for a master class on the portrayal of mania on screen.

Superb.

This was great!

What a great episode. It didn't take long at all to get these storylines good and juicy. I'm loving this season so much. I realize we're only on episode 2, but if this momentum keeps up this will be an amazing season!

Going Dark
bbevis-479542 May 2022
Warning: Spoilers
Barry has done a good job of balancing darker themes with comedy and pathos throughout the series. Limonada went dark fast with Barry erupting on Sally. Barry's mental state is deteriorating faster than I imagine would happen this season. The final moments of demanding Mr. Cousineau to tell Barry that he loves him was hard to watch. The performances of Barry continue to be excellent. Bill Hader was amazing to watch in flipping from being psychotic to desperately trying to earn someone's love. This is a dark progression for Barry, and while I am not sure I am completely on board with the direction the character is going. I would rather have my expectations be subverted than being able to predict everything that will happen.

I absolutely love the show, I'm worried about where they are trying to go with barry's character.

This episode, while lacking a bit of 'funny' moments, was a good one, it had a bit of everything and really helped Sally's imagine in my mind, she really is they way she is because of the abuse she suffered. I'm just worried about the lack of sharpness or emotion that Barry is showing, as in: 1- used to be passionate about sally or acting, he really don't give a damn anymore.

2- no remarks about fuches after he went on a murderous spree just to Kill him.

It's just making it hard to root for Barry and I love to root for him.

Wake up call episode.

Are you people just realizing that Barry is not a good person?! Just because a character is the protagonist does not mean that you should cheer for him.

One of my favorite episodes so far!

This is an exquisite half-hour of television. Bill Hader in the director's chair has proven to be a real asset, and this episode showcases his ability to seamlessly interweave tense, often heartbreaking dramatic setpieces with his trademark comedic flavor to tremendous effect. If you were still looking for reasons to get on this show, do it for this episode's perfect, and I mean *perfect*, concluding shots.

Oof that was dark

Warning: Spoilers
But in the best of ways. Knowing the creators and writers and directors and actors, while this will never be a happy story with a cheerful ending, this will still be a humorous journey. I mean the dog scene was pretty hilarious. But this is the first episode I was afraid of Barry. We all have a dark inner monologue we don't release because we pause and process. Seeing him snap in a public setting and not apologize or care later? Hahaha that was worse then seeing his killings. With the recurring theme that there's a lot of people out there who are pretty nuts and can be a danger to others, this episode clearly states Barry is a sociopath who will destroy the lives of people he cares about because that's who he is so don't get too comfortable. Great acting. I'm constantly impressed with Bill Hader and the supporting cast.

It's funny another reviewer brought up LOTR because this episode reminded me of Breaking Bad and GoT. There are characters we want to root for because their circumstances, their grit, their likability, their humor, their wanting to be seen or loved and we even hope for change but at the end of the day they will always bring destruction and pain to those around them no matter their intentions. Again that's just who they are.

Barry Berkman or Walter White or what
safenoe4 August 2022
Warning: Spoilers
A real dark turn this second episode of season 3. I don't know if the devastating impact of the pandemic had a marked influence in the minds of the writers as they had a longer than usual prep time for season 3, but it's really hard to be empathetic with Barry as he exercises a brutal grip on Gene and his family (son and grandson to be precise). Is Barry turning into Walter White or what I don't know. Is Barry beyond the point of no return who knows.

Still, I loved the reference to Full House.

What a brilliant riot!

Man, Bill Hader is simply at the top of his game with this one. Every fear I had for season 3 kinda goes away here. Once again, the sheer amount of genres this show can seamlessly mix together is simply outstanding. Brilliant acting by Bill Hader, Henry Winkler and Sarah Goldberg. One of the only shows that can make you laugh too hard, weep inside for the heroes and send a chill down your spine in the same episode - better, in the same four minutes.

Funniest Episode?
MamadNobari972 May 2022
Barry has completely lost it!

So in terms of craziness, I don't think anything can top that season 2's episode with that alien creature that took the form of a little girl, but this is probably the funniest episode I've seen. I don't remember laughing this much at an episode of Barry. This scene with the dogs and what happens next are one of the most goofy things that happened in this show and it was funnier than whole season 1.

So following the last episode's ending, Barry is at his wits end and is trying to make up for Mr. Cousineau and they all lead to a really funny second to last scene, and a pretty terrifying last scene.

So the first major scene is at Sally's work and Barry goes ape sht there and he's totally lost it. Great scene And the way Barry's eyes in that scene are bulging out reminded me of Gollum for some reason and I though "huh, he could do a really good Gollum". But funnily enough, and for much weirder reasons, when we get to the middle of the episode and Barry is talking about second chances, it felt like to me that Barry is Frodo and Mr. Cousineau is Gollum and reminded me of how Frodo viewed Gollum and why he wanted Gollum to be saved. I don't know, it's just me, maybe I should stop rewatching LOTR every year and think about it all the time lol. I don't think there's any other human bean that thought about Gollum while watching this episode.

Anyway, what happens next and what Sally does after this "conversation" of her with Barry, really made me come around about her character. Even though I didn't "hate hate' her in the first two seasons, but I didn't like her either and thought she was annoying. But this episode made me realize that she's not that bad, and obviously was never as bad as Barry.

Something I forgot to mention about why the comedy was so much better in this episode and me giggle, spit from laughter and laugh out loud, were the extras. Well, not exactly extras since they have lines and talk, but there were a couple of one-off minor and background (in this case foreground) characters that added so much reality and paradoxically goofiness, and also made the world of Barry more believable and lived-in. It's a great addition that either I didn't notice it before, or there weren't in the show at all, but they were more noticeable in this episode and made the episode so much funnier. Especially the dogs scene that I mentioned at the beginning. I hope they continue this "extra and background characters that add more comedy to the show" thing they did in this episode in future episodes, because those were mostly why I'm giving this a 10/10.

So even though this is a short show and this episode only has 27 minutes, they do a really great show actually giving us 3 separate plots, which two of them are connected, and progress them naturally in just a short time.

With the plot B of Sally, we have her teenage co-actress who gets worried for Sally after witnessing Barry going ape sht. So, we to wait and see what they are going with that plot line and I hope they don't make her character into another annoying season 2 Sally.

The next plot that is plot C, is about Cristobal and his relationship with NoHo Hank and a big development happens in their plot, and even though they way things happen with NoHo Hank seem really repetitive - the thing that happens to Cristobal is literally what happened to Hank in the previous seasons - it also weirdly feels natural and I guess the writers have to progress the Hank and Cristobal story in some way and not let them just sit in their house and enjoy their pool.

Anyway, most, if not all, of the comedy and serious stuff obviously comes from plot A that's the adventures of Barry the Killer and Gene Cousineau the Most Hated Acting Teacher in Hollywood.

All of the scenes with Barry trying to make up for Mr. Cousineau are great and their dynamic takes a turn at the end of episode with what Barry does, which was too low even for him, but also made sense, and you can see that Barry himself doesn't want that either, but he keeps digging himself deeper and makes you unsure of what his eventual fate in this show will be.

All in all, a great episode, probably not a 10/10 but the comedy was so good and made me laugh so much more than it did in season 1 and 2 that makes this one a 10/10 for me. Be looking forward to future episodes.

Great!
TheKreacher3 May 2022
I was kinda worried after episode 1 of season 3, because it was such a change in the show direction. I mean: I had the constant feeling of having lost a punch of episodes between season 2 and 3. Now, after that, I could really enjoy Barry again as the mind-blowing show it is. Characters are -even- more complex, story telling is -even- more complex, darkness is -even- darker and jokes are -punch of dogs far- more funny.

Im really really REALLY enjoying this show.

One little thing that still dont like (and thats why I dont give a score of 10) is that Barry character has change a bit of a sudden. I mean, he is a maniatic now. Its great and funny. But before season 3, he would never act like that with Gene. He was a man who wanted to change but he had no option to -still- keep murdering people. He would ever never shout to his girlfriend the way he does now. I understand it has to be because the evolution of has character... but I have the felling that this change should have been told in these "lost" episodes we never saw in the elipsis between season 2 and 3. Still a great GREAT show. Love Barry. Fresh, original, and incredibly funny.

Episode 302
bobcobb30112 June 2022
Warning: Spoilers
The right mix of comedy and drama in this one. The Gene and Barry dynamic really is strong and they've sort of flip-flopped in getting fans to root for the old acting teacher, not the titular character.

Don't like the direction so far
velenrendlich2 May 2022
I know that they're trying to do something fresh... but it's too different all of a sudden. First two seasons were very cohesive, now Barry is an unlikeable psycho and first two seasons 'he's trying to be good but has no chance but to kill' feeling is all gone. I don't care about anyone at this point since they're all terrible people, what's the point of watching it?

Insane and just funny
lovemichaeljordan2 May 2022
Wow... this show is quite weird but very funny. There's a lot of funny pop culture references and Noho Hank is just too funny. It's difficult to describe the humor, but it's discrete and very funny.

Great acting from everyone and Barry is just becoming insane. He is broken and crazy, can't wait to see what's to come.

Henry Winkler has still got it!! The whole episode and acting is a master class. Without spoiling it: dogs, blue, choco lattes, bad dates, and flashlights.

Change of pace from episode 1
Peanutman20202 May 2022
Warning: Spoilers
While episode 1 was a dark Breaking Bad-esque reintroduction to the Barry universe, this one is a bit more quirky in nature. The story is in a very weird place right now that is far more absurd than previous seasons. Luckily, the writers seem to acknowledge this throughout the episode, making it much easier to digest.

I personally think the scene with Cousineau screaming in the trunk with a cop literally 5 feet away was a bit too unrealistic even for an unrealistic show, although the dog scene was one of the funniest bits I've seen in any TV show. Bill Hader's acting in this episode is probably the best so far. Overall though, a pretty tame episode and not nearly as dark as the season premiere.

If this season of Barry continues on this track, it may be the best yet. This episode does not reach the highs of last episode, even though that was expected.

S3.E2 - Really Good [8/10]
panagiotis199317 October 2023
Warning: Spoilers
(S3. E2) My Reaction / Review for Barry Season 3 Episode 2 ''limonada'': Episode 1 was good and I gave it a rating of 8/10. Let's see if this one is better or worse. Barry wants Gene to be in Sally's show? I don't know if that's a good idea. Barry thinks this could help Gene get over the death of Janice? How? Barry is losing it, I love it. This bolivian boss says to Cristobal that they should kill the Chechens ''blood for blood'' as he said. Cristobal doesn't want his boyfriend NoHo to die though. Also Cristobal has a wife and kids? Things are very complicated for him it seems. Gene escaped? I wanna see what Barry will do now. Nice cliffhanger with Barry telling Gene that he has to do what Barry says or he will kill Gene's son and grandson. Overall a good episode, my rating is 8/10.

This episode has me on the fence.
rochfordsimon2 May 2022
Warning: Spoilers
I love 'Barry' (pun intended), but I hope this episode isn't turning the series in a direction that's one sided story telling to suit a specific section of the audience.

Three series in and I'm still hooked on the show. But there were bells and whittles in this episode that will likely turn the Protagonist into the Antagonist. If this happens I'll be checking out.

Other than that, I'm glad series 3 is here.

Don't get this one
krupocin-116 May 2022
Love this season overall so far at the half way point but this was the only one that I found to be just boring and at the time I was worried about the quality of the show after the break. Now I know it's better than ever but re watching this episode I stand by my stance that this was mediocre TV on a show that's typically dark, hilarious, and with writing as tight as you'll find. The Sally/Barry abuse stuff I just am not feeling, it just doesn't work for me. Barry is a psycho and I know he's having a breakdown but it just doesn't vibe with everything that happened before. Maybe this is a bad take and I'm wrong, but that's not how I feel right now. It just feels a bit unearned. Otherwise though, still one of the best show of the 2020s and I look fwd to it every week. They can't all be winners!

I love you Mr Crusoe
moritzherz16 April 2023
The secon episode of Barry Season Three continues the great start and puts ecen a level on top. Mr Crusoe still wants to get Barry arrested so he tries anything to escape from him. This concludes into the final scene of this episode where he ran off to his son to call the police. Then he realizes Barry is sitting on the couch so he lost again. This was a great ending to the episode!

We also see some acting scenes and I love how they make fun of modern writing. The line it is called writing could be said to many of these modern writers because what they do is not writing. I liked that satirisation.

smcgillivray4 May 2022
What's with all the high ratings? This was terrible! Story was all over the place. Characters were dull and campy (even for this show).

I was so excited to be watching this series again, but the first two episodes are crap.
