Nothing foolish here

'Phineas and Ferb' was so good in helping me through many tough periods during its run. Still do get a lot of pleasure out of watching re-runs of what was, when airing, one of the few shows on the Disney Channel regularly worth watching. Admittedly the later episodes are not quite on the same level as the more creative earlier seasons, but 'Phineas and Ferb' at its weakest still managed generally to be better than a lot of animated shows recently at their best.

Both "Ask a Foolish Question" and "Misperceieved Monotreme" are far from foolish, actually very clever and more. "Ask a Foolish Question" doesn't sound like a novel premise, especially concerning Candace, but manages to do something very fresh with it. The more creative and consistent story is "Misperceived Monotreme", and will be a joy for Perry the Platypus fans. He has always been one of my favourite characters on 'Phineas and Ferb', but he shines here more than he has in some time.

The animation is full of vibrant colour, quirky character designs and meticulous attention to detail in the backgrounds. Especially in the Doofenschmirtz subplots and that awesome fun house in "Misperceived Monotreme". The music is dynamic with the action and the theme song is insanely catchy with very clever and quotable lyrics that anybody still in school fishing for how to spend their vacation will relate to.

"Ask a Foolish Question" and "Misperceived Monotreme" are both wonderfully and cleverly written. Very intelligent, never juvenile or confused and often very funny to hilarious. The stories are engaging and have a lively energy, both equally good but "Misperceived Monotreme" scores higher on the imaginative/creativity factor and the content is less formulaic than most. The show does centre around one basic formula on the whole, but it has nearly always been very successful at having enough variety in the plots and adventures to avoid it from being repetitive. Love Phineas and Ferb's inventions.

Doofenschmirtz's subplots in both episodes are a lot of fun and deliciously wild, especially "Misperceived Monotreme". All the characters are on point as are the interactions (Perry and Doofenschmirtz together are gold and that has always been the case, they are a joy in "Ask a Foolish Question") and the voice acting.

In summary, brilliant. 10/10.
