Sex & Nudity

Violence & Gore

  • Fights, blood, injury detail, many surgical scenes and domestic abuse are all depicted throughout the series.
  • A woman falls and strikes her head, resulting in a concussion. A pregnant woman has a seizure. Two women fight in the street, knocking each other down.

Profanity

  • The occasional 'ass' and 'whore'.

Alcohol, Drugs & Smoking

  • A main character is an alcoholic and attends AA meetings, her alcoholism is present throughout the series. This includes a relapse which occurs in Season 7, they are always portrayed as striving for sobriety.
  • Cigarette smoking, and occasional alcohol drinking. Not excessive.

Frightening & Intense Scenes

  • A few of the main characters are seen in danger, are ill or pass away throughout the series. The characters are all likeable and well-known, and the scenes and their episodes are incredibly emotional.
  • The labour and delivery scenes are intense; they are very emotional and on some occasions the baby or the mother is in danger.
