You Want To Wrap Some Fish In That?
douglasmcbroom25 December 2022
Clearly this excellent new series has found itself and it is no longer a farcical comedy, but rather, a sharply-focused, tightly-directed, beautifully-acted drama with comedy.

Just when you think you have the characters figured out, they surprise you. Clearly, Dwight (Sylvester Stallone) is in a serious tornado in Oklahoma. He's got the biker gang, the Mafia, the ATF and the FBI closing in on him, as well as, trying to keep his daughter safe.

Meantime, his odd-ball partner in the wacky tabacky business (Martin Starr) turns out not to be such an innocent novice after all.

Eventually, all of these meteors are going to collide.

Episode 7 is Entertaining & Death of an Awesome Character

Warning: Spoilers
With one of Waltrip's guys dead things are about to get even more crazy. Tina's husband is injured, Dwight is smart enough to know this is a warning, I want to see how he will react now. Goodie seems like a guy who knows how to properly communicate, I want to see what he is all about. Dwight to Stacy: ''Exactly what do you want from me?''. Yes, Stacy has to decide what she wants from Dwight? To be lovers? To arrest him or what? Waltrip's brutality is delicious. I love Dwight's clothing choices. Margaret wants to buy Dwight dinner? Damn. Dwight saying to Grace that she looks nice today is very gentleman of him. And of course Dwight has a new business plan in mind. Wow I didn't expect that Bodhi is stealing people's money online. Pete got killed by his son, what? I liked the character, it's sad he is gone. Damn. Is he now like the new boss? And we also get a ''wig reveal'' lol. Chickie looks so much better bald. Very nice addition to the Dwightverse, my rating is 8.3/10.

Warr Acres

Warning: Spoilers
Tulsa King has settled down and found its tone and voice, but I also feel like they made a mistake by having two deaths on this show. You didn't need to go that extensive, not just because it is Christmas and maybe we should be a little bit holier, but it killed the impact, for lack of a better term, of the second death, which should have been the bigger one.

I am glad they addressed the ridiculousness of the wig on Domenick Lombardozzi's head though. I wasn't sure where they were going with it, but finally getting rid of it and having him move on from his father's shadow figuratively was long overdue.

Going along very well until this episode

Warning: Spoilers
I have really liked this series until about midway through this episode, where a series of missteps happened in rapid succession. Hopefully this is just an anomaly, but it feels like the writing and plotting were going along pretty well and just fell off a cliff. Specifically, unbelievable coincidences, unearned "character development" and just a drop off in quality of the writing.

They are telling me I need to write more, so here goes: it's preposterous that the weed dispensary guy Dwight happened upon also happens to be a crypto thief. The sudden turn of events with the mob boss's son is completely out of left field and feels in no way organic. I guess I've been forced into applying a spoiler tag. Whatever.
