Warning: Spoilers
It seems like this show is going to go a lot more in the weeds with things and get technical which does create a better viewing experience for those at home. I feel like we do need a little more of a direct threat in terms of someone dying or at least to learn more about what the actual plan is because until we learn those stakes there is not much to go on.

I get that this is by design, but it would strengthen the overall power of the program if we learned a little bit more.

So far the show is enjoyable though and I am looking forward to how the real time pacing continues the next five episodes.

Keep the Faith
xmasdaybaby19662 August 2023
There have already been a lot of recognisable faces in this with many falling into the "what have they been in? " department (thank heavens for imdb).

It is a surprise that Eve Myles didn't appear until now as she is quite a current name.

With her busy morning I assume this will have been a Wednesday (an in joke for viewers of Un Bore Mercher - the Welsh version of Keeping Faith).

As others have said, the story seems to be lacking but a quality cast sees it through encouraging the viewer to keep watching and Ms. Myles is a quality addition to the list.

Others don't seem to be working to their best though.

Warning: Spoilers
A slow-paced (realistically and indeed), psychologically soap-operaish aboard the plane with 3 degree deviation wits from the bright brainy lady, all the while the control tower guy putting his nose where it doesn't belong. You do not go after the security young woman with your cherry SUV all alone, you notify your superior, you do not try to take the false credits all to yourself to be then thrown back all purple into the bathroom.

Look at Sam, look how intelligent, bright and full of resources he is. That's Homo Superior in its "finest" form. Playing with the terrorists minds, grinding them like meat to pulp. Kudos Sam, continue chatting with the captain, while KA-29 veers off little by little, 3 stars at a time.

A note to Apple TV, as one user righteously and angrily pointed out, you do not play with users' minds one episode a week at a time. Now, you're starting to have a growing army of watchers behind your walls. Thrilled invested people deserve better.

I am still waiting
searchanddestroy-15 August 2023
Yes, yes, yes, I am still waiting to anyone in this series, wondering HOW THE HELL the terrorists, the villains, the bad guys, managed to get guns aboard the plane? OK, I am sure there will be explanations later. And the ending of this episode may let us some hope...But that doesn't explain WHY no passengers, talking among themselves, no passengers wonder how the guns could get aboard? No one wonders !!!! It's a shame, a real disgrace regarding the great care that was put in this series, concerning technical details, with the air control staff.....it's so shocking that such an element - bringing guns aboard a plane - is not even evoked by the second episode. It is not realistic at all. That's the first time I see a plane hijack plot which doesn't explain anything so fr in the story. Especially concerning stories taking place after 9/11....

The second episode is still putting the moves together. The hijackers have bought their plans forward.

They have made no demands. They just want to take control of the plane without anyone in the outside noticing.

Sam Nelson makes his play. Telling Stuart the head of the hijackers he wants to help them. Even though he has sent a message of help to his wife.

There is even a fracas on the plane where Sam gets hold of a gun but he gives it to Stuart as a sign of trust.

On the outside it is all a bit Keystone Kops. No one seems to be putting 2 and 2 together. A false alarm is just seen as that in Dubai. A text message is seen in isolation in London. The poor guy from Air Traffic Control in Dubai Airport. He should had known no white guys would ever work as professional cleaners in the Emirati states.

I did not realise until this episode that the series is in real time. It did feel tense and found it all rather gripping even if some of it is ridiculous like those two have a go heroes.

Huge early flaws ruined the series (minor spoliers)
bdbuhr4 July 2023
Warning: Spoilers
I can't believe anything that follows in this series after just two episodes. These are minor spoilers because you know this is about hijacking, and you'd expect some conflicts, but not the way each conflict unfolds and proceeds.

Why would someone give back a gun to a hijacker instead of killing him and now having 2 guns? Why would terrorists listen to a passenger instead of using him as the next in line to kill? Why would terrorists not seriously punish passengers who had attempted to overturn them? And looking back at episode 1, why would a pilot open the cockpit and guarantee more people at risk (including his mistress, already at risk) because undoubtedly hijackers would have interest in crashing the plane? Now a few hundred become potentially many thousands of lives or worse on the ground?

The premise is hugely flawed from the start, at seemingly every advancing plot step. It's truly stupid. Poor writing.

Already Boring
jackp2463 July 2023
Warning: Spoilers
The plot already feels drawn out and this is only episode 2. I can already tell that this show should have been 3 or 4 episodes at a maximum.

Not to mention, the "bad guys" just don't seem threatening. They seem mindless and easily manipulated. How are their intentions not revealed yet? Do they just plan to mindlessly walk up and down the plane? It's hard to get invested without at least a hint of what's going on. Also, the big death at the end was straight up hilarious. The killers are cleaning up a murder with the front door open? Come on man.

I'm tempted to give up on the show at this point. The writing has just been awful and honestly, cartoonish. I haven't even talked about the family drama side plot, which is just painful to watch.

Wow , how bad is the writing
chrisgibbon4 July 2023
Warning: Spoilers
Ridiculous. The acting is good, it's a little tense, but the writing is horrific.

Spoilers - the pilot beats up the co pilot to open the door for the hijackers.

The hijackers are convinced by a passenger to move the pilot as the plane doesn't need a pilot as it flies itself (even though the pilot in real life would have to talk to atc regularly to take headings to avoid weather / other planes, or change sectors). Atc in London know there is an issue as the plane in Iraq is heading 323 degrees and not 320 degrees. Atc can get pictures of pilots on their system. Absolute rubbish and written by a buffoon.

Trash
jamosmonk2 July 2023
Whoever wrote this trash needs to go thru remedial scriptwriting 101. The people who greenlit this should be reevaluated for competency since at least 3 more passes were needed to improve the script to reality. Was this script written by ChatGPT? Maybe this is a Turing test to see if someone could tell whether a human wrote it or a computer program created it. This would explain why the characters dont make understandable choices. They are acting like the decision tree that an 8 year old would come up with due to their limited experience and understanding of human actions/reactions. Even so, it is a waste of resources.

great idea but still poor execution
Lythas_8531 August 2023
Warning: Spoilers
Like everybody has said multiple times.. dude... no, the pilot opening the cockpit was THE most terrible idea they could have come up with..

like i said, they could have turned the co pilot or blackmail her somehow.. throw some flashbacks to show how they got her... simple thing.. maybe she has some debt because her husband was very sick and needed extra care.. or whatever may be.. so she took a loan from some bad people..

but the pilot, just opening the cockpit, because they were threatning his sidechick?

And the you had the air traffic controler trying to be a detective, investigating everything and then getting himself killed.. another no no, he was actually an interesting guy.. inquisitive.. they could have killed off the new boyfriend tho.. he is useless..

because what elba's character is doing is a complete different approach to what we have seen in all those hijacking movies.. but with all those flaws and lazy writing.. they kinda killed off the show.
