A Wonderful Little Film

Forget the negative reviews from viewers who missed the point of the film, especially any that suggest an association with pedophilia. This is a coming of age film.

Who among us doesn't remember the angst of growing up feeling we were somehow inadequate, that our bodies weren't developing fast enough? Lord knows I did. I bet we all have stories to tell. The telling of one such story is what writer/director Evan Roberts did so well with this film. Will it win any awards? Not likely. Will it help us to remember our own similar experiences from our youth? Absolutely.

Give it a chance. You'll be glad you did.

Nope nope nope Kowalski!

Warning: Spoilers
"Yeah Kowalski!" is an American 10-minute live action short film from 2013, so this one is still fairly new. The writer and director is Evan Roberts and this is by far not his only gay-themed short film. but it's a definite contender for his worst. I am glad this was over fairly quickly. The acting from the lead actor is pretty bad and his supporting cast isn't really any better. But the worst aspect here is the writing. I don't know what's the most ridiculous aspect about this film. Maybe that armpit hair is considered as something attractive? Or maybe that the entire pool and all the girls were full of hair with the little he had under his pits? Or maybe the fact that his crush is not only gay too, but that he may have had a crush on the protagonist too? And there's more contenders for the most absurd part of this little film. lots of garbage in here for so little runtime. I highly recommend to stay far far away.

silly

after its end, the basic question is about the subject of this short film. because it seems be one of childish games with no theme. and only after a time, the few excuses invented by the viewer save " Yeah Kowalski!„ from a too critic verdict. a film about appearances and truth. who could be real nice, and realistic, if the axis was not so...disgusting. because the cast try to save the film, the desire of a teenager to be like his classmate is not so bizarre but to propose a problem like that and a ridiculous scene in the pool is not reasonable. like many short films , the expectations are far to be great. but the poor young actors deserve, maybe, a better script.

Youthful Antics

Cute, if a little bit silly. It seemed to be set in a world where being gay was accepted without question and explored the bullying aspect, that is usually associated with coming out, with armpit hair instead. I do worry that films like these and some of the others on the Boys On Film Disc 10, might just be fodder for peadophiles. I'm always worried what people might think if I even smile at a child, because I do not want to be put in that category.

155.25/1000.
